A marvel of Italian Engineering.....

In my two years living in Italy I have seen some amazing things but this almost tops them all.

Only surpassed by the great Roman aqueduct, Colosseum, and the Pantheon. Behold one of the greatest feats of Italian engineering....The Massivus Meatus Tubius Maximus.

At first I thought it was the warhead of a vintage WWII torpedo in the center of the grocery store until I got up close to it.

Here she was when I saw it last....

And today 10 days later. I must say my Italian friends have done me proud putting a dent in this thing. Notice the banana for scale comparison.
