Icon14 SS Submariner -- Out with the Old

...In with the new! After 17 years wearing the 16610, I traded it in on the 116610 and I'm still shaking. The picture doesn't do either watch justice, I'm still shaking.

Thanks! If I get the same service with the 116610 as the 16610 I'll be very happy. Yes, this watch will out live me. I'll pass the watch on to my grand son.

Still Shaking: Excited and sad seeing the old Submariner go. It's been around the world with me several times.

So what pushed you trade it in? If possible, I would have kept it.

Congrats! It must be hard to give up a watch with so much history. I'm sure you put a lot of thought in to that decision - so Good luck with the new one and I'm sure you will create many amazing memories with the new sub!

Wow, that had to have been tough, taking it off after all that time/mileage and handing it to someone knowing you weren't going to put it back on again...

Hopefully the shiny new one quickly feels just as right... that and knowing someone else will put your old watch on, as new to them, and feel the way you did, and do, about the new one you're putting on...

Haven't had mine for 17 years yet but it was someone else's first and felt new to me when I got it... not sure I could ever part with it though as it was an anniv. gift from my wife...

The 16610 was one of those classic rolex moments where they got everything right. You can say what you want about the design of the ceramic 116610 but the 16610 was a fine moment in rolex history. Same with the 16710

I was the original owner of this Submariner with all paper work, boxes, tags, even the pristine anchor. The salesman wanted me to keep the anchor but I told him to give it to whoever buys the watch. Since I have two other Rolex watches and three Omega watches plus a few battery powered watches, I decided to make a trade instead of increasing my collection. Of all my watches that I own, which I love to wear -- and show off -- the Submariner is my favorite and gets the most compliments. But you guys know that.

The wrist prescene of the ceramic is quite a big step up imo. Nicely done.

I understand your mixed emotions.

I don't think I could have parted with the 16610.

I agree with you on the 16610. After 17 years of use, I got more for the watch (trade-in) than I paid for it. I don't expect to get the same return on my new 116610 but since I'm willing it to my grandson, I'm satisfied.

Congratulations on your new SubC. I can relate to how you must be feeling, I recently let my 16710 Coke go after buying it new in 1997. No regrets though I picked up a Sub LVC

I couldn't have parted with a watch with that much history. That would have been the watch to pass down, it was a part of you. What drove you to trade it in? What else do you have? I guess it's too late at this point but that was a great piece. Either way I'm sure it must be a great feeling to have a new piece in the stable. Great watch.
