Buying New Rolex, Should I Sell Vintage

I'm about to buy my first new Rolex. I still have no idea which one, because it is an extremely hard decision. I am leaning towards the new Air King. I know, I know that many don't like it, but I tend to always go a bit against the grain.

But that is not the subject of this post. Do you think I should sell my vintage OPD Ref: 1500 with my purchase of a new watch? It is beautiful classic that is much more 'dressy' than the new sport models I am considering, so I can still see it being something I would wear on more formal occasions. Still, I could sell it and get another sport model, perhaps an Omega SMP or Black Bay, that I would probably wear more. What do you guys think?

Here's its picture:

The new AK is fine, never apologize for buying a watch you like.

I wouldn't sell. I bought the OP39 114300 last year after selling my gold GMT Master but I always have my trusty 5500 AirKing

you are not gonna get much from vintage DJ. I'll say keeping the classic and save for the Air King.

No, no and no. Keep the vintage, save for the Air King.

I already have the funds for my new watch, and I know the OPD will probably only bring around $1500 - $2000, but I just wonder if I'll wear it enough to merit keeping it around. I guess I can keep it for awhile and see. I mean there is no rush to sell it. But at $500 or more for a service (it was just serviced), I don't know if it is something I will want to keep.

You'll regret selling it in the long run

Buy the new watch and see afterwards. Don't decide now.

I will be honest. I like your current OPD better than the new air king. Your current watch is a classic in my opinion.

Most dealers over here will give you a pittance for it. Maybe things are different in the US.

If you are going to wear it then you can save it passing down to your kids.

That's exactly why I started flipping / consolidating my lower value watches.

Wise words. You already have the funds for the Air King so no rush to sell the OP. Own them both for a while then decide.

I'd say sell it unless you have someone to pass it down to.

Cheers
