New to Rolex

Hello guys!

I always liked Rolex watches for years but never had any means to purchase one. Now that Im somewhat financially stable, I am looking into purchase one. Im learning so many things about Rolex from this website and im debating if I should purchase vintage or a new one. I really like new Daytona ceramic black bezel, Deep-sea Deep-blue, and GMT Master Stainless Pepsi but my friends suggesting go with older vintage... I dont know where I should pull the trigger... (My heart is at Deepsea Blue now, oh I love it soooo much)
Im currently own TagHeuer-Auto Chrono, Omega-Man on the Moon, Tudor-Black bay, Mido-multifold.

Any suggestions?

Get yourself a GMT Pepsi. That's a great start.

Welcome Jay, I can only advice you to take your time and try on your wrist any watch before you make a decision to buy. Between vintage and new is a world of difference.

Get what you like not what people tell you you should like. All of those are amazing watches and a great place to start. But I know first hand what it's like to pass on something you love just because someone else said something. Then I regretted that decision for years.

My suggestion would be to wait for awhile as you get the lay of the land on this forum. My tastes changed and expanded pretty rapidly in the early going. That said, in the realm of Rolex, there are no mistakes unless you get something off the grid and come to hate it. The tool watches are a no brainer.

Exactly this. Wear what you enjoy, for yourself. Hard to go wrong with any of those.

New Rolex Date-Just 41 roll-gold

I am acquiring a new Date Just 41 and I am really thrilled to have one since I have been thinking to own one. So far I have been having Mont Blanc Limited edition Maesterstuk and very happy I have Rolex as my life time possession.

This forum will also give you a schewed view of Rolex ownership. TRF will tempt and entice you with another watch no matter how many you have and is full of enablers who post amazing pictures of their collections. Before you know it, the idea of a collection of three, four or even five Rolexs seems to be the norm, because you have to have all of your bases covered (modern and vintage, a diver then a GTM and then a special occasion/PM watch).

Choose the watch that YOU want. Then DECIDE that you're content, no matter how many pictures of new watches are posted on TRF. Otherwise, you'll buy a new watch, be happy with it for six weeks, then flip it for a loss in order to buy the one you "should have" gotten in the first place.

No offense to any members. I love TRF and all of the great people here!

Being new to Rolex I would suggest going to an AD and trying everything on. See what works, do your research and buy right. If you can figure out how to buy, sell and trade you will be able to trade or sell better and get the watches you want. It took me a while to figure it out, and it is still expensive, but not so much compared to AD prices. The search engine is your friend.

I fully agree! This is a dangerous place if you don't have lots of disposable income. I like all of your choices. A PEPSI appeals to me most out of your list although I have all of the ones you listed. I'd try on the DSSD blue first because it's a very big watch. The PEPSI has some really good vintage versions that you can swap out bracelets and straps on if you go with say a 16750.
Here's a more modern one. I wear it as much as anything I have.

I don't really wear my DSSD blue although it is gorgeous.

Go for the DB as you love it the most. Vintage requires a lot more analysis so you should do a lot of homework first.

Well said

Spend some time at your AD, visit several times if need be and feel good about making your decision. Don't rush it

You like the deepsea d-blue it's brand new and nobody has the watch so it would put you in a rare group absolutely Jump On It.

I just got the deep sea blue Friday from a membet here and I love it. I does make my subs seem small now with its great presence. Very unique watch.

TRF is quite the temptress. It's hard shy away from her magical powers of enablement.

Let the AD salesperson earn their commission. Try 10 pieces and go with what sings to you and your checkbook. More often, for me at least, these watches take on a whole new look when sitting on YOUR wrist.
