Royal Oak as your only AP?

Hi All,

I asked a similar question on the PP forum when I was considering an Aquanaut as my only PP. Well that happened and now I'm looking to add an AP RO possibly for my 40th birthday present to myself. Curious to see who has an RO as their only AP.

The ROC and RO dual time are also in consideration, but I'm leaning towards the 15300st or 15400st with blue dial since it is an in-house movement. I have a 116520 and two GMT2s. At first I didn't consider the 15202st jumbo because I felt having the seconds hand a more practical purchase, but it is growing on me.

I need to go try some on :-P...

I have a 15300 as my one and only and while I would love to add a Diver - am perfectly content with the blue as my one and only.

Thanks! I had two watches with blue dial and I flipped them to fund the Aquanaut. Missing a little blue in my life :-).

Buy the 15202 for sure. When you see it and try you will love it.

There's no such thing as an 'only AP' .... Once you get one, you're gonna be hooked

Ive owned the 15400 and it is a great watch. Bracelet is unreal and super comfortable.

Nice to have an RO and an ROO but either will fill the need in a small collection.

Agree with what was said above.

15400st is my one and only, but once you see some of the other masterful pieces it's difficult not to start planning your next purchase.

Once you see their RG in person--and on your wrist--it's tough not to drool.

A little blue for you, OP.

My reasoning on the 15300 - the 15202 is sublime. The movement is a thing of beauty. It was a little too thin for me though and I really would miss a second hand.

Almost a dress watch but it isn't.

I had a hard time but the RO IMO is a sports watch. The 15400 was a bit too close to a ROO for my 6.75" wrist so that was out.

15300 ended up being "just right"

My one and only AP. It's hard to go wrong with a Jumbo, IMHO. I don't wear it much because I'm afraid of scratches. For me it would not be a good piece for a one and only every day wearer, but it's a great member of a collection.

I have a 15300 as my only AP. In the future who knows but that's the situation for now :)

Only brand I have more than 1 is Rolex.

I do not see any issue here. It is a matter of what you like. I tend to go with a lot of Chronos but I do have diversity-- but between brands. So the bottom line is go with what you really like. In terms of the seconds hand-- that or a chrono seconds hand is absolutely essential for me. I used to say I could not go with a stand alone Chrono Seconds hand but I softened on that one... However --- no seconds hand-- no buy!

For me, if you can't go 15202, you've gotta pick the 15300. That blue is stunning.

SS is absolutely fine for a one and only AP, I had a RG ROC as an only AP. I wouldn't have it as a one and only watch tho.

300 white dial my only AP. Needed a white dial and an AP so checked off both boxes! Love it, comfortable and super legible. But now that my Bluesy is gone, I'm shopping for another blue dial....

Yes. 15400 silver dial as my one an only. The only other model that interests me is the 15202.

Royal Oak as your only AP?

My only AP, it is in rotation with a couple of Rolexes but it is one of my daily drivers. No mayor scratches after a few months of ownership

my only AP is a 15202. I think it is fitting too as the jumbo is one of/the watch that put AP on the map. Also it was the only one that speaks to me. I think if I had to narrow down to 3 watches I would have a 5164a, 15202, and Daytona

Sure, I have a ROO, ce diver as my one and only AP, did think adding a Jumbo but the lack of second hand really bothers me, and I find the proportions of the 15400 not so perfect, but sure having a RO or ROO as only AP is a great choice and would do fine, I have others which I don't wear but have 2 incomings, one is waiting for me in Switzerland and the other will be in October, 1 SS and 1 RG, kinda like the 3 different materials idea, but the diver will most likely be my only AP, have had it as my only watch for 4 months and except if you wear a suit it's perfect, so a SS RO is perfect IMO...

I'll always regret not getting a mint blue dial 15300 for 8.900 euros 2 years ago, I got a few other watches instead, a Blancpain instead of the 15300 and since 2 weeks later I was getting a PP 5712 thought it would be too redundant, what a dork how the hell could I not get it, even then finding a mint one at that price from a reputable dealer was not so easy in blue dial, it's the only watch I regret not getting
