Stopping Chrono on ROO 44

Hi TRF,

I noticed that when i stop the chronograph the seconds hand jump for a second or so. Is this normal?

Cheers.

I've seen the same on mine. Sometimes more sometimes less.

Presumably you’re referring to the chrono seconds hand?
You’ll know a few members have had issues with their watch, which APSC used a lack of lubrication as an excuse – could it be that you’re seeing the symptom of that?

Edit:
Ah, I thought you might have meant the running seconds.
Even if it’s doing it each and every time, I would still maintain it’s not normal – if sporadically, then it’s definitely not right.
As per another thread, if you can check other ones at the local AD, then you should be able to quickly gauge whether yours is representative or not.

I'm taking about the sub dial seconds hand, not the Chrono seconds hand.

I don't remember seeing such this with my other watches. Maybe I'm wrong and being skeptical.

Just got the chance to check my 42 ROO. It does the same thing, albeit way less frequently. Well, it did that once only.

It seems to depend on the location of the seconds hand (sub-dial) if it towards the 45 seconds mark.

Did I get a lemon or what?

Well, just stopped the Chrono on the 42 ROO for 20 times and the sub dial seconds hand is butter smooth.

It's not the case with the 44.

Get to the AD and check some others out also.
Is there an APSC in your locale or is it a back to Switzerland job?
If the former, then have a chat and see if this is a common complaint, and considered normal for the 3126 version in the 44 – if there’s even any difference with the 42’s.

Plenty of members here with 44 ROO's. Hoping I'd get some feedback here.

The seconds hand skips a second when it's at 15-30 position and I stop the chronograph.

I'm currently in Dubai where APSC is available; but I don't trust them with my watches. I doubt the quality of the technicians match that of those in Europe and US.

You shouldn't have a shortage of 44 ROO chronos to compare yours against.
Does the amount of elapsed time have any effect?
E.g. letting the chrono run for 5-10 mins, or longer.

I just checked and can't say I notice that at least at normal eye distance.

When i saw this on mine, it wasnt constant ... It maybe would do it the first time I clicked stop or reset and then if i kept running it it wouldnt do it anymore. The first click was noticeable. I cant remember if it was my current or a previous one. Current is at clearwater so i cant check. I rarely use the chrono so i never paid any attention to it.

The second hand doesn't jump on my 44mm chrono (purchased yesterday) but rather the minute hand jumps forward a tick when the hit the bottom pusher to reset the chrono hand. This appears the case for a display model on my AD as well so AD is checking with head office.

Thanks all for the feedback.

Just observed that the seconds hand actually jumps 2 seconds sometimes upon stopping the chrono. Happens whether the chrono elapsed time is in seconds of minutes.

This will be the last watch I buy from grey market.

The lint on the dial, and now this. I started to doubt that the watch has been tampered with. I will go back to the dealer and give them a hard time asking for an exchange.

Don't want to send my "new" watch to service just yet.

1+1 does not equal 3.
Also, don't cut off your nose to spite your face — APSC can sort out both issues, and any others that haven't manifested yet, in a reasonably short period of time.
You might even get a further extension on the warranty as a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience.

Main time keeping hands (hours, minutes, seconds) can move a bit with modular chronograph movements when the chrono is started, stopped, and/or reset. When it happens and to what extent isn't consistent. I've seen this on several ROOs and other watches with chronograph modules.

Integrated chrono movements, cam or column wheel, are not supposed to exhibit such behavior but I've seen it happen with such movements as those in an Omega Planet Ocean chrono and a RM 011.

So an update here. The dealer offered me a replacement for a 'new' one again but will cost me $1800. I thought I'd buy me peace of mind and go for it.

Arrived there, watch was ready. Warranty is 05/2016 so I thought this would be it. Upon inspecting it, the watch hands had some sort of moisture on them. Pretty much a damaged piece.

He promised me to get me a double sealed one next time. They have my money so I pretty much have no other options but to go for it.

What do you all think?

How long have you had the watch?
What do your local consumers laws provide in respect of having been sold a lemon?
Until I knew where you stand from a legal rights POV, I’d be totally against paying out more money, when the one you were sold obviously isn’t right.

Find out what you’re entitled to, and if a full refund, then take it (and as Ken says) and find a proper dealer – one that’s not a cowboy, like this one seemingly appears to be.

I don't have the watch anymore. But the invoice I now have is for the damaged one dated today with the serial number written on it and stated that it was returned. To me, the old one I had for a few weeks does not exist anymore (with the bad movement).

I had already paid the extra money when I noticed the moisture inside the watch.

I clearly stated that I'm only taking a double sealed watch this time, otherwise I need my money back. Let's see.

Maybe someone from Dubai can shed some lights on the laws here? Afaik they really care about consumer rights.

I'd find another dealer and get my money back. Plenty of solid AD's out there to work with that will work with you.
