Good afternoon i am new to the forum just joined today.

I have bought a Rolex 18k day date 18238 from a jeweller about a year ago the bracelet has started to stretch and i have given it to a jeweller who will refurb the bracket and put in new pins to remove the stretch.

He called me and said the pins in the bracelet are solid gold not hollow gold pins what Rolex usually put in, I rang up prestons Rolex were I got it from and said the bracelet is genuine.

Does anyone know if Rolex ever did solid gold pin links thank you all.

Bit confusing. The pins are always solid but the links are made of 18K solid gold capped tubing for your 18238 bracelet.
Don't know Prestons, but if they are a reputable jeweller or even better an AD you have nothing to worry.
Want to be 100% sure than post detailed pictures of bracelet and clasp and ask for opinions here.

Interesting post for me as I have a Daydate yellow gold that I bought about 20 years ago. It's been serviced a few times and keeps excellent time. The bracelet has a lot of "sag". My AD has offered to trade the watch for a new Daydate, but I can't see spending that kind of money to, essentially, update a watch that keeps excellent time and still looks good. I have a new GMT and it's almost too big for my wrist so the new really big Daydate wouldn't work.

My AD has told me the bracelet cannot be repaired to remove the flex. Also, that I should not have the watch serviced until it stops keeping time.

Make sense?

The bracelet can be repaired by Michael Young in Hong Kong. He does great bracelet restoration at reasonable prices, way cheaper than a new bracelet.

Like John said, sent your bracelet to MY, very affordable and whilst you are waiting for its return have it serviced. After this you're DD is ready for daily use many years to come

Michael Young does very good bracelet refurbishment. If i was you i would email him and ask him this question about the pins. Be specific with watch serial year as bracelets could have changed between different production years.

He should be very qualified to answer this question.

Thank you for the replies the guy doing the work is a well respected jeweller please see his YouTube link of a bracelet refurb.

The question to be more clear is there should be gold hollow tubing in the links but he said mine were solid links and he has never seen that so was a bit conffused with my strap has it had work before? Or did they come with solid links and not all hollow.

Does the rolex 18238 have solid or hollow tubing pins in the bracelet?

18238 is supposed to have hollow center tubing as far as I know. The 118238 has a solid bracelet.
