Am I ready for my second Rolex ?

I bought my first Rolex less than two weeks ago it was the DSSD Deepsea D- Blue dial and I absolutely love it. My question to the more experienced watch collectors is it too early for me to purchase my second Rolex already ? I want a 116520 Daytona white dial. Then I want a Rolex 116681 Yachtmaster ll 18K/SS. I had good luck buying the D- Blue from a local AD Store I'm thinking about taking a crews over to see what they have . Should I wait or should I just get them now ? I'm not sure but I think I am HOOKED

Most people would be better off waiting and thinking more before buying, since flipping is costly.

With that said, there's no statutory waiting period. My only concern is whether you'll get itch for a 116500 in a few months and want to flip the 116520

I agree with this. Also you may as well enjoy that D-Blue honeymoon for a little while longer. You'll know when it's time to add another.

If you've got the disposable funds lying around, then I say sure, go for it. But, seeing as you just acquired the Deep Sea Blue, I would enjoy wearing that more and take your time before making your next purchase. As others have noted, you may decide you want a different watch and not the Daytona. I just got a BLNR, which took me over a year before finally making my decision, given that Rolex makes so many great watches to choose from.

I agree with Adam, I try to have a 3 month buying pause between purchases, helps to stop buyers remorse and confirm you really want a watch, plus the anticipation is often as fun as the buying.

I would go to the AD and try every watch on that interests me. See which ones fit right, look right, etc. Then I would come here on the TRF and do all of my research. Then I would think through where I am going. Are you going to pick up a third, fourth or more watches. If so, what is the order. This is a great hobby and should not be taken too seriously but you can save yourself a lot of money and time by thinking it through.

Too soon. Wear it through all 4 seasons if you can. It's summer and easier wear an oversized watch. The moment the watch "feels" inappropriate, be it the change in weather or your change in clothes, is the moment you are ready to start adding a different watch. Trust me. I bought many Rolexes in Summer only to regret it in winter.

good advice here. There's no harm in going in to the AD to try on a few watches and see what you like. (Although trying on the Daytona may be hard now that it's discontinued). Take your time and think through what you want next. Most of my regerts from buying/selling came from making decisions too quickly.

I don't t think there is a wrong choice when it comes to buying Rolexes other than over paying. I think the Daytona is one of the best watches made. The YMII is much more of a niche watch but is a beauty for certain. I'd pick up a Daytona and then give it some time before the next one.

I've had my 116520 for a few months short of two years, and I still don't think I'm ready for a second one! I've had a dozen different Rolex pieces since I started collecting, but never two fine watches at the same time since I had the Seamaster Pro and the Planet Ocean side-by-side. I never wore the SMP, and I realized I'm more of a one-watch guy.

When I do decide to add a second watch (a Rolex, of course) it'll be when I'm ready for gold. That's about the one way I could justify having a second watch sitting at home.
