New Airking or Explorer?

In the morning I am off to buy a couple of new watches. Milgaus 116400GV is a definite. But also I am thinking of getting the new Airking or the new Explorer. Can't make my mind up as they are very similar.
What would you guys choose???

Get the Explorer. The AK is basically the Milgauss with a different dial...same case, movement and bracelet. Better still, just enjoy the Milgauss for a while and see how you feel later.

If I had read this a week ago I would of advised going for the Explorer as it is a very clean looking watch, totally uncluttered and has a sense of history about it. This is a watch that you can wear anywhere and grow old with.

I have seen pics of the new Airking and thought it looked an over complicated mess.

However yesterday I wandered past my local AD and it looked far better in the flesh that it does in a pic and now the gap between the two is far less pronounced. It looks a bit school boyish but it does have a certain charm about it and the only advice I would offer is to look at both of them on your wrist and go for the one that rings the loudest bell.

Regards

Mick

PS - The side issue is to never use a pic on your pc to decide what watch you will like the most.

Agree with Mick on this one, try them both on and bring home which ever one sings the loudest. Good luck.

Both are cool but I'd pick the Explorer

Agree with this, looks MUCH better in person. I actually like it a lot after seeing it at my AD

This sounds like very solid advice to me. I agree. Good luck with the purchase!

This looks like it will be a long morning in the AD. Old Expat makes a good point, even tho I have read the specs for each a 100 times I didn't put it together that the AK was the same as the Milgauss! And why buy 2 at the same time, can't believe I maybe talking myself out of a new Rolex lol. I think I am leaning towards the Explorer or nothing and waiting a while.
Let's hope the AD doesn't show me anything else!

I see the AK has a more fun or playful piece, whereas the explorer is more of a classic that can go well in any scenario.

I have yet to see an AK in person, so based on the pictures here, I'd have to go with the Explorer.

I have not seen the new Air King in person either but I would pick it over Explorer. I like 5 minutes markers

Personally, I'd get the AK & Exp and forget about the Milgaus. I don't like the second hand on the Milgaus. The AK dial pops and the Exp is classic.

Yep that is good advice that I think I will try and listen to, but when you get to the dealers and you have all these watches around things change lol.
Those who like the AK to the Explorer is pretty much 50/50. I have changed my mind so many times today. I think I will have to walk away and think some more

lol at all the AK love here. A few weeks ago everyone was hating it. My pick would be the Explorer. To me, the AK looks like someone had some spare Milgauss cases, had to figure out what to do with all the old Explorer numerals (and hands?), quickly drew up the AK dial then put it all together.

The Explorer is such a classic piece, and with the updated hands/dial it's perfected.

I agree with you on the Explorer, although for me, the new Air King looks like someone figured out how to make the Milgaus cost less and look WAY better.

Tried on the AK in NYC. It's a solid watch. LOVE the green details...makes the piece really pop. What turned me off, however, is the lack of lume. Only on the 12..

seen both , new ak is a car crash when you see it in real life , [just my view of course] why oh why , im not seeing it as a future classic , which is probably why it will be.

explorer gets my vote , clean and simple.
just try both on , and buy the one you cant take off.

yada yada yada..

Get the Explorer. No need to put them on.

If they are, in your opinion, a classic case of too-close-to-call.. Then get them both.

Thats what we are here for. To get them all. Sooner or later. All of them!

Get the Megaton Explorer and put the Ak-47 as the next purchase.

Wear it in good wealth and cholesterol health.

.. and post some pics
