TT Daytona or platty yacht master
I am going to go to my AD this weekend to try on some watches For my next I am looking at these 2 stunners, but have never tried on either.
Wich of the 2 would hold there value best? What is about the price difference? And by the way the Daytona is TT with white dial....... |

Not going to touch the prices, but I'd pick the TT Daytona - ask for a decent discount.

I'd go with the YM personally, but just because in my humble opinion TT gets a little gaudy looking sometimes.

TT daytona are around 13k and the YM is $9175. You should be able to get a discount on both watches. But still the TT Daytona will cost you more. Im not a TT kind of guy so I'd get the YM. Now if both watches were TT I'd get the Daytona.

Not to mention very different watches. Need / want a date? Need / want the chrono function?

Gotta go with how I know JJ will- short of a meteorite dial or Bluesy, the platinum YM dial clenches it for me, even over a TT Daytona. That one really catches sunlight!

I would look to some of the trusted sellers of preowned watches, you will save a ton on LNIB vs BNIB, almost to the point of getting both for the MSRP of the TT Daytona.

There's a TT Daytona in the for sale section right now that would be good as new if you sent it to RSC for a good buffing. To each his own, but that would be a few grand in your pocket.

I was at my AD on the weekend and saw the platty YM. Great look and beautiful dial.
I am still mulling over my first rollie but the YM is beautiful. |

TT Daytona. It's just beautiful.
Every time someone posts a picture up my heart skips a beat. I know it's supposed to be all about the SS Daytona but the fact is I love the TT just as much.

I'm NOT a fan of YM's generally, but the Platty ones are a huge exception, gorgeous watch.

My vote is Daytona first and then YM if you don't care about the date function.
both feel solid otherwise.

Hello,
New guy here.......... I actually faced that very same decision very recently! I was all set to go with the platinum YM - what a beautiful watch it is - when I came across a photo on TZ of a 116523 TT Daytona with the slate dial. I am normally NOT a yellow-gold guy (everything else I own is platinum or SS) but I was completely blown away by the beauty of the TT Daytona. In fact, two weekends ago I ran down to the local AD and they only had a white dial TT Daytona, but it too was fantastic in person. I went home and sealed the deal for the used TT slate Daytona from the guy on TZ and I received it last Friday. I must say, even though I don't care for yellow gold, this is the most beautiful watch I have ever owned (and I have had several Rolex and Panerai models). I do believe that the Daytona was the best choice for me. BTW, mine is a late Y-series and I was able to purchase it from the original owner, in excellent condition. Good luck with your decision! I'll be frank! Having owned a TT Daytona for about 6 months (the one in my avatar) I have finally decided I don't like it. It is stunning, but it sits on the fence in that it's not a durable tool watch like my sub and it's not a dress watch either. I bought a WG Daytona this morning and it feels so much better on my wrist as it's not a mix.
I'd either get an SS Daytona or the Platty. I'd stay away from the TT's to be honest. Either keep it SS and simple or 18kt and dressy. The two don't mix IMO. |

I don't dislike TT Daytona's but I'm not a huge fan either. Same goes for the YM, doesn't do much for me but between the two I'd likely lean towards the YM.
