Your thoughts on the Tag Carrera calibre 5 white dial
Not familiar with it but tried it on at a local AD and found it beautiful. I need a watch I can wear when I don't want to risk banging my rolex too much (trips, lake, hiking, etc.)
I noticed that the crown isnt a screw-in... Is that s big Issue if I plan on swimming with it? And while I'm at it, what are your thoughts on the Seiko Grand? Which one would you go with between the 2? |

I'd go with the Seiko Grand only because only because I think horologically it is more interesting. For Tag I'd only get a Monaco or something similar.

I have an older Carrera 5 three hander. It's a great looking watch, simple dial, etc. It was my first "nicer" and really enjoyed it for some time. The big issue I had with it was the power reserve was kinda crappy, even after a service. Not planning on flipping it as it has a decent amount of sentimental value.
As for swimming with it, I would definitely this watch being submerged in water. You might get a way with once or twice but i would definitely not keep this watch far away from water. If you need more water resistance, have you looked at divers watches? They'll have the appropriate design, seals, etc. for use in and around water. |

I had several tags including a cal 5 albeit black. Sold them all except for a sentimental f1 though. It was a good watch.
But I would much rather up the budget a smidge and get a Tudor pelagos or black bay. I bang around in a pelagos personally. |

I would second the Tudor black bay. I have the red one and it is awesome.

Some great suggestions above. There are some pre-owned Black Bays on TS sites in nearly the same price range as the Tags. Definitely worth a look.
