Back in Black...Teju
Teju Lizard skin that is...
A while back I posted a pictorial of a Swiss Ammo Strap I had made by Dangerous 9. I recently received another custom strap made by strap master John Glance made from this very cool skin. The strap has one keeper and is 115 mm on the long end and 70 mm on the short I should have gone more adventurous on the thread color, but I thought ecru looked best. Gray was my original idea. Panerai does not offer a lizard skin AFAIK...I really like this look. Cheers! |

Nice one. I don't think I've ever seen a lizard skin in real life. I like the semi-matte finish. Is the texture similar to alligator?

Thanks much
Similar Mik...but so many more smaller scales make it a bit more interesting when you compare with Black Gator |

Two questions: 1. Is that a 312? 2. Can you drop the website address for John Glance? Sorry, I'm new to Panerai

Love the 312 and that strap looks better than the OE.

Looks fantastic! Congrats! I like the thread color. Combo of classic and edgy with the scales. Very well done. |

Thanks all. I am quite happy with it. It's understated...while at the same time, just a bit unexpected.

Great choice. D9 is one of, if not the best strap maker. The Lizard is on my short list. What kind of lining did you get? What all options did you get?

Hi Malik I got the tan kidskin lining if I recall. I should have gotten something more "exciting" like blue or red...but I didn't. I had a choice of his "super matte" lizard skin - which is a rubberized finish - but I didn't go that route. My lugs are padded...but I didn't get the "curved lug" treatment where he closes the gap between strap end and lug. That's about it. I have another strap in the queue for my Speedy Pro. A brown hand-antiqued gator skin / with a black leather lining. He adds dark coloring to the surface and it softens the skin up as I understand. I think Cru has one for his Pam. I also saw John post one on his Instagram with a Fifty Fathoms. Looked very nice. I purchased an OEM 18mm Omega buckle to put on when I get the strap. |

I've sent John an email with a few pics of my 689 and asked him for some ideas. Unfortunately, he's away on a buying trip in Italy at the moment but he's back next Tuesday. I'm really excited to see what he can come up with; I hope he can do something in lizard skin because I'm loving your black Teju.

Thank you. I do love Gator, but seeing Lizard on a larger scale (pun intended) is quite interesting. Usually you see lizard on narrow straps - I have one on an old DateJust - and this really screams Lizard! |
