Pam 005
After 5 years with my deepsea
I have been looking to add another watch to my collection recently. Came back to the forum and notice the brand is getting less love than before. Anyways I always like the Pam005, thinking if I should buy it as brand new or used one. Found one at local AD Selling $7200 CAD after 12% tax. They said it's hard to find so discount is minimal. If I were to buy a used one where should I look? Thanks |

005 is one of the classic mainstays of the collection, so, it's not surprising to get little to no discount.

As for New or Used... I'd go for a LNIB, let someone take that initial hit. Best luck looking for it! All of these models have been discontinued, something I recently found out. But you are lucky to live in the watch capital of the world

It depends. There are a lot of sellers here with good feedback but if you're in HK then why not directly go to a preowned store and see what they have to offer. I guess after all I like face to face deals.

Is that $7200 for a brand new watch? One site said retail was $5200US, so with conversion etc. works out to $7658 with taxes at 13%
So $7200 Canadian a good price. If used and older (original G Series from 2005). Need to check around and compare pricing to see if price is fair or overpriced. DON |

I would rather buy a later series as opposed to the I series. The later series are worth more in the second hand market.

Brand new from a retailer of being sold by a dealer of everything?
I is actually 2007 (G was 2005) If this is your first Panerai. Buy new with warranty. This way you don't have to pay whatever the Canadian service center charges although there is a Ontario watchmaker that can service them for less DON |

Get the "old" 005 while you can. The in-house movements will eventually replace all the UNITAS movements.

Definitely agree with this. If You can get the R series which I think is the last production series for the 000,005,111,112 it would be even better. Good luck!

So I went to the AD today with the mindset of just giving it a try and checking out other models I might like. After trying it on I asked what's the lowest it could go, then the lady offered tax included. (12% tax here) I asked if she can do more, then she offered tax included minus $200 which came to $6200 CAD. All along I was thinking to get a used one but like you guys said the cost of servicing adds up. Now I have a new watch, R series, from AD, just worth to pay a little extra. Appreciate all the advises here. Here are some pics!

Well done and congrats, new with warranty, saves the potential hassle of pre-owned with added service cost. J

Congrats! You nailed it with this one! I think that's a great deal you pulled right there. Totally worth getting the last series of these models. They are phasing out the Unitas ETA movements and now is the best time to grab one. Wear it in good health. Wish I had a picture of my R series 112 to toast with you.

The OEM JV is nice.
Or the OEM Assolutamente For white rubber, I don't think there's an OEM version. Check eBay. That's where I got this one (technically silicone). |
