JLC master geographic- thinking about flipping a rolex
Ok, i love my two rolexes but for the last week or so i keep getting the urge for a new watch.
I have looked at the JLC master Geographic many times before and it is beautiful in my opinion. But expensive for me. The MSRP is nearly double that of a my milgauss which i am considering flipping it for. Pre loved you can pick these up for £3000-£3500. The problem is i cannot find one in the UK very often. If the situation arose do you think that would be a good idea - if i got a good price for my white milgauss and a good price for the JLC. plese let me know what you all think and any more info on the JLC would be greatly appreciated. I would get the bracelet on it too- this pic is just for illustrartion purposes :cheers

I think it is a good idea and honestly that JLC looks stunning
However do not flip your milgauss before testing the JLC and this means strapping it on your wrist

Hi Toph
Without doubt a great looking watch, and as you have the GMTIIC I think the JLC would be a good swap for the milgauss (plus some £££ obviously). Always provided you don't work in a high magnetic field .... Regards Mike. |

My GMT IIc was an example of this. I didn't think I would like it at all with the polish, supercase, etc. One test drive on the wrist, I got it and love it.

Wow man, are you sure you're feeling O.K.
JLC Geographic is a great watch for sure, but selling a Rolex If that is what you want the Rolex will always be there for you to buy again if you so choose at some point down the line.

It looked so cool from the pics and i was sooo crazy about it Then one day one of my close relatives got a black dial daytona i played with it for about 2 hours and there was nothing special. It didn't seem so special to me and i couldn't understand why people prefer the black dial over the white one. On the other hand when i first saw from close the white dial daytona i was like WOW that is a watch that i must have It is really important to test the watch before buying it cameras play some nasty tricks

I have the Master Geo and love it as a dress watch. The only issue I have with it is that it didn't last as long as my Rolexes before needing a service. I've had mine for about 5 years and all of a sudden it stopped working. I took it to my AD who said it was going to cost $1280 for the service. He said it would have been half that if I had had it serviced sooner.
Bottom line. It's a great watch but not nearly as rugged as a Rolex. Here's mine.

thanks so far for all the replies- its a great help, i have also been considering the Dual Time- i love the face etc but i have yet to see one on a bracelet. i really prefer a bracelet on an expensive watch (except Patek or a total dress watch etc).
I have just realised the picture is emblazoned with a watch website, if you want me to remove it- please do so.

Chris,
I'm a recent convert to JLC after a few years of deliberation. I think they make well designed and well-built watches. They are not meant (not the Master series) anyways, for the same kind of wear that one might put a Sub or Milly through, but are rather more like watches to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. If it helps, you can save a bit by buying the watch in say Malaysia, where the JLC Boutique boasts the highest sales figures next to the Paris Boutique. PM me for more info if you like. Cheers mate, |

Toph,
That's a beautiful watch. You might try Zeetan at www.collectorstime.com to see if he has one. I've purchased many watches from him, and his pricing and service are excellent. If I may add, I think the dial will stand out more if the watch is on a strap. Just my opinion, of course.

JLC dual time looks stunning IMO, I like the one with
brown leather. But again try it on your wrist first before flipping the white Milgauss, because for me both are equally stunning Good luck on the decision and keep us informed |
