If it had to the one and only watch

If you had to choose between these only 2 watches to have in your collection, both being considered as the most iconic watches in old and recent existence, which will it be?
1. Rolex Submariner (no specific reference)
2. Omega Speedmaster Professional (Moonwatch)Name: IMG_0140.jpg

Very different watches. I started with the speedy as ten years ago it was more than half price and I continued with the sublime expy II ref 216570

Tough choice, but only 1 ... Rolex because of water resistance. But I would pick a GMT over a Sub..... My $.02

Between these 2 it has to be the Submariner.

My reasoning.....

It would become annoying having to wind the Speedmaster ever day if it were your one and only watch. (I don't know how my dad does it).

Waterproof.

Please don't get me wrong, the Speedmaster is an icon piece which IMO should be part of every collection but not as a one and only.

Not sure if you realize but winding a speedy is easy and takes very little time because it does not have a screw down crown. I choose sub tho and I have owned both.

The Sub for me - as I would have more use of the timing bezel than the chronograph

Yes, I own a vintage manual Omega (not Speedmaster). Although easier to wind it still needs to be done daily which I think I'd grow tired of.

My knowledge here is zero but have they ever made an automatic Speedmaster? Just curious....

I have a sub and not an Omega, so I guess that's an easy choice

Yes - Omega makes a whole range of them. Virtually all of the watches in the Speedmaster line are automatic co-axial models except for the Moonwatch. It's still produced in nearly its original form as a tribute to the NASA missions, and it's still issued by NASA to astronauts as a part of their essential equipment.

Yep. Most of the speedmasters these days are automatic. There is only one line that is manual wind "the speedy professional". I believe they keep this line active as it is part of their history and also one of their best sellers
