Sub 2009 16610LV trade for 2015 116610

I am hoping for some quick facts to help support my decision to trade my 50th anniversary Sub. My local AD who I bought the LV from back in 2009 has a great looking slightly used 116610 date which I prefer overall to the green bezel LV. Maybe I am just a little bored of mine after six years who knows but I have big wrists and I love the newer bracelet, ceramic bezel, and the larger appearance of the newer version with the black bezel on my wrist. He will take my LV plus $1,000 for the 116610 with the box and papers etc.

I don't keep up with the values these days and i am trying to make sure this is not a bad deal. The last time I checked the 50th anniversary LV's weren't bringing much more. Also mine is 6 years old and shows normal wear for being that old and the newer one is in much better shape.

Normal wear on your watch isn't a huge deal as it can be easily polished. Chips or things like that would likely be a bigger issue.

Not having seen your watch, I think having to add $1000 is a bit much. What are they asking for the excellent condition 116610LN?

$6,550 for my watch and $7,550 for the excellent condition 116610. My bezel has a few scratches on it.

The trade in value of your LV is decent (although the pre-owned value of LVs is climbing), but the AD asking price for the pre-owned 116610LN is anywhere from $500-$750 too high.

If those numbers aren't an issue for you, then go for it!

I'd be holding onto the 16610LV. If you're fed up with the green get a new black insert - Est $30 - $50. It's just a nicer watch than a SubC.

You skipped the part about the bracelet, bigger presence, and ceramic bezel that he is looking for.

Trade for sure, but try to the price down on the Subc.

I wouldn't trade it, personally, but, if you're looking for something with newer features, I probably go for the SD4000 instead.

I said that's what I pesonally would do. The LV is discontinued, rarer, increasingly harder to find in nice condition and will be more desireable and worth more than a standard SubC. If the OP wants one it's their call.

Mine is a M------1 serial number so turns out that it's older if my research is correct it's a 2007. Not sure if that changes the above thoughts. He won't budge on the 1k so I will look at the ceramic on Monday and make a decision.

If I found myself in your shoes with a LV that I'm growing tired of, I would strongly consider the trade you mention for the 116610. The only other option I'd consider is to buy a brand new factory black insert for your current piece (there are usually some available here in the classifieds) and switch the green out and see how you like that.

Personally I see the attraction of the SubC date over your watch, as I have a 16610. Only you can decide if the 2015 model is worth it to you.

Great advice I've got a bit to think about. The $1,000 isn't what it's about so I will base it on which I prefer on my wrist. It will be very hard to say goodbye to my LV. And unfortunately I can't swing both.

I think that's smart decision. You figure your LV will continue to increase in value and as others have said, it's no longer in production. I also have an M series LV I've considered trading in the past, but decided to hold on to it. Its definitely worth more than what I paid for in 2008.

I don't blame you for wanting to go from the five digit to the six digit reference, I did the same, but you want to get more value for your current watch.

If you did a service and replaced the bezel and got it polished, the value would go up higher than the cost of the service.

If you want the 116610 I'd look for the right trade, but I wouldn't add $1,000 to the LV unless the 116610 were new.

Make the deal. The new one is more comfortable and looks better. The adjustable bracelet is awesome. I have a 2003 bluesy that I rarely wear and got a hulk a few months ago with the adjustable bracelet and grab that all the time. Just my 2 cents.

Big Al , I intend on basing my decision entirely on fit and appearance on my wrist etc. I'm not going to hold onto the LV just so it can sit in my winder and maybe appreciate more over the next 10-20 years etc. I could get hit by a bus in a week

Trading in at a Dealer is the same the world over. He needs to make money on the deal and you need to look at the cost/convenience to you for the watch you want.

There is not a bad watch choice here.


(If you bought your LV new in '09, then it's an '09. Internet charts do not accurately "date" your watch)

They won't make any more five digit LVs. They'll make six digit Subs for a long time to come. I'd think about it for awhile. It's not like you are making a decision about something you need. If this deal passes there will be others, perhaps more favorable.

I'd make the trade. The 116610 in a nicer overall watch than the 16610. As you stated in one of your posts, it may be many years before the LV appreciates enough to be a real collectors piece. BNIB ones bring good money, but yours is used and a RSC service will be several hundred. I had a 16610 for 15 years and a serti 16613 for about five years and now have been wearing a 116610LV for five years and I'm not even close to getting tired of it. I think you'll love the 116610.

I would put a black insert on it first and see how that feels for a while. I have a 16710 and a few bezels and a change can really make the watch feel fresh again. Give that a shot before launching it.
