Rolex road rash :(
Hello, yesterday I fell off a road bike and scraped my sub. I have some deep scratches in the clasp and 3 links need to be replaced. I was searching online for a new clasp but didn't come up with much. Any suggestions on what to do and any idea of cost?
Thank you My model is a 2013 11610 ceramic SS w/date |

Full bracelets seem to go for $1600-$1800. The clasp is a good chunk of that price. Good luck.

Call up some big city watch makers/dealers.
Try to get a used bracelet. |

Agreed. Although if you shop around you may be able to get a used clasp/bracelet for a couple hundred less. They do pop up from time to time. Good luck and hope you're OK.

Try searching for 97200 and you will get an idea of used and some new prices.

I have been riding bikes for many years and I am familiar with crashes. I hope you are OK. I only wear a heart rate monitor watch or a Casio when on the road. It saves you from a lot of anxiety and money.

The older (5-digit ref) clasps run around $525 and are sold on an exchange-only basis.
Edit: I now see yours is a ceramic (though you put the pre-ceramic reference number). I'm not sure about the price on the newer ones. Sorry. |

First and foremost I hope you are ok. I just resently purchased a Deepsea D-Blue that came with 2 extra Links I only needed one. So I have 1 extra brand new link W/Screw that is yours if it fits. Give us a list of parts need to restore your bracelet and maybe the fine members on this Awesome forum can look and see what they have to help a brother out. Good Luck.

Rik Dietel at Time Care Inc. can work wonders. He is a CW21 indy watchmaker. 727-215-8870 Maybe give him a call. New and gently used bracelets for your watch are often in the for sale section here on the forum usually in the 2K-2500 range depending on new or used. |

But it is a 116610LN, the links and clasps are a lot pricier.

Oh yeah!! I have a Timex ironman watch with road rash. If that had been a Rolex, I would still be crying.

Well thank you for the concern everyone. Fortunately just a clasp and my pride got hurt, and I'm thankful that I have all my teeth. :)
I Visit a Rolex dealer in RI today he actually priced out a new clasp for around $800 plus labor. If I can get away with paying under 1000 and I'll be very happy. I will keep you all posted. thanks again! l?sort=3&o=2[/IMG] |

I think it's worth have a 'beater' watch in the stable. For some people it's another Rolex, but I wear my Pelagos when I think the watch will potentially suffer some damage. And I also have a quartz Seiko if I don't want to scratch the Pelagos.
A $2000 SS bracelet is definitely beyond my pain point |

Glad to hear you're fine OP. Best of luck making the watch whole again.

Glad you're OK. I'm a roadie as well but my Garmin watch does a much better job at tracking my: speed, distance, elapsed time, HR, cadence, location, will even upload all that data and map out the entire route I rode automatically.
IMHO, a Rolex watch serves no real purpose while riding a bike. There are so many more appropriate tools/gadgets to use for a lot less money. Right tool for the right job. |

Props to you, seriously nice thing to offer. After seeing the pictures, at the end of the day it does suck but its just cosmetic. I would 2nd just smoothing it out and enjoying it. Spending $1000k+ to have a better looking clasp and links, to me, isn't worth it. Assuming road bikes is another hobby or passion of yours, now it shows wherever you go. |

If you had the watch listed as a Scheduled Item on your homeowner's insurance, it should be covered, minus the policy deductible.....worth a call to your insurance agent.

I'm sorry to hear that.. Some deep scratches for sure.
But why wear a sub for biking... Sounds really uncomfortable. It's heavy , flopping, crown digging, bracelet sweat... Sounds horrible. I guess if you biking to a bar but if you are actually exercising? Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk |

Ouch! Hope your rash heals up quickly. Sorry to hear about the watch too. One of the reasons I switch over to my Garmin when I train (swim, bike or run). Don't want to ruin a Rolex and the Garmin can give you so much workout data.

The last time I bailed on a road bike was several years ago and I high sided. If I would have had a watch on, it would have been completely destroyed.

The most I would do is get it smoothed over by someone like Michael Young. You now own a Tool Watch - if you replace that bracelet, it's back to being a Safe Queen
My GMT got some new scratches when I went down Slide Rock in AZ. I would do it all over again! |
