Rolex 1655 McQueen
Greetings. What are your guys thoughts on this one? Appears to be a service dial (MK 6) but otherwise original to me.

well for starters, Steve McQueen wore a Submariner. Specifically a 5512. Regarding the 1655, I'm no expert but the dial, hands and bezel do not look original.

I am aware that it's debatable whether he wore it. Based on Stefano Mazzariol's blog I'm seeing a service dial + MK 3 bezel. To me it just looked like it received "Rolex's special service".

Parts authenticity
Do you guys feel that the parts although not original to the watch are at least Rolex?

I don't believe there is (and there certainly shouldn't be) any debate that he never wore one. There's yet to be a single photo produced of him wearing a 1655.

In pic 4 it is unusual to see an un-inscribed inner caseback for an old 1655. Of course, owner may have never had it serviced or watchmakers didn't awl mark it.

Im not completely up to speed on the 1655, but the bezel does not look correct and doesn't look like anything shown on the page you referenced.
It might be helpful if you were forthcoming with information. Like the sellers description and asking price. For me its a complete pass, but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. |

The dial is a Mk5 dial.
I have concerns about the bezel.
