Sub or Polar Explorer II
Looking to replace the SD I sold many years ago and have narrowed it down to a Sub or a Polar Explorer II. I know that they are very different watches but I am leaning towards the Polar as the Sub is the most copied watch of all time.

Can't go wrong with either...if you're leaning toward the polar I think that's an excellent choice.

I would pick polar explorer over black sub in a collection. But the problem is that my collection would also have a black sub

Funny. I just sold my 114060 and the 216570 "Polar".
The 14060 wears better and the 216570 is a tad too big. Apart from that; their both great watches. |

I'd go polar. Two time zones and just as rugged as a Sub.

I only wish the Explorer II had been left at 40mm. I have a white dial 40mm Explorer II, but I'd love to own the new one in 40mm instead of 42mm.
As far as the Sub goes, I much prefer the Sea Dweller. |

Exp is cheaper. Is that a factor? One of each is probably the best way to go.

I'd go for the Exp II, but then again I'm not a huge Sub fan.

I didn't like the font on the new Polar. I tried it on a few times, couldn't figure out what was "not right" then concluded it was the bezel. Maybe it's a little too bold? I don't know. I can't stand the Breitling fonts either.
Maybe a vintage one for me instead.

Sub for sure. It's the more versatile of the two.
The 40mm exp II does wear very well, very comfortable.

Exp II Polar (6 digit reference). One of my favorite watch in my collection. Very underrated.
