GMT 1675 Originality Check
Dear Learned Ones, thoughts on how original this '77 vintage 1675 might be or otherwise?
Lume, insert looks too fresh to my untrained eyes. |

Lume on this MKIV dial is OK. Correct dial for 1977. Hands look ok, too.
Insert is later service replacement. For the case I / we would need more pics from different angles. |

No. Not a relume. The rough lume structure is OK for MKIV dials at this time.
Here's my 5.1Mio. series for comparison....but maybe it's a relume, too ;-) |

i beg to differ, 1675 did come with FF black insert. Case looks fine but a lil over polished for my taste. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

God forbid .. only to share infos .. but for what they are my knowledge and my studies black insert has been provided as an alternative to the 16750, of course, it is compatible with the 1675, but in my humble opinion has never been available as original inlay for the production 1675.. Neither ff nor slim... Only pepsi

Thanks for sharing. It's true black insert was not available in the beginning. There was not a clear consensus, but some collectors agreed it was available mid or late 70's as an option. The way I see it, if black insert was never meant to be sold with a watch, why produce it in such quantity? Of course only Rolex will know. Cheers. I blame it on the autoconnect. |

Engravings look legit.
Case is OK. The inside of the 11/7 o'clock lug is a bit worn out (from loose bracelet). Yes, the case is polished...but hey, it's a 39 yo watch. Looks quite symmetric and strong. Strong crown guards, too. Not a collectors item, but a nice watch to wear! If the price is ok/reasonable, I would go for it! |
