SD 50th Anniversary?

Have been looking at getting a diver for everyday wear. The model that I am most attracted to is the SD4K. Tried the diving range on and it just felt like the 'Goldilocks' choice between the subs and Deepsea.

Now here's the dilemma, whilst researching it I saw that the original SD was launched in 1967, therefore could be due a special edition or a new model in 2017.

So, buy now or wait until Baselworld 2017?

If you buy right, your worst case scenario should be that you take $500 hit on your watch if you sell it. Then you just buy the SD 50th.

I'd get it.

The answer is to always buy if you can. No one knows what Rolex will come out with next year.

Just make sure you buy the sea dweller used not new. It takes a huge hit when sold if bought new. Sub does way better.

Do you really want to wait until March 2017 to see if Rolex is thinking as you are...then December 2017 to buy?

If you are in no need / want of a watch now though...hang tough.

Rolex doesn't release 50 year models very often..

Since the DSSD is a relatively new release, and the SD4k is a re-introduction of the discontinued previous Dwellers, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm def hoping for a 50th model for the SDc. That said, buy one now. No guarantees they will bring it.

IF they bring out a 50th anniversary SD, I think it will be a WG or Platinum monster with some colored ceramic bezel! It will be in a different $ category than existing SD.

I know the 50th Sub was SS (with a green bezel). But i just have a feeling if they do come out with a 50th SD now it will be PM, like the Platona and Smurf Sub

If you like it, buy and enjoy until something else comes out that you like even more. Maybe by that point you could even keep both and have the best of both worlds!

It sounds like you do not want to buy a watch now, so you should definitely wait.

SD 50th Anniversary?

Buy the SD4k now and enjoy it.

It is a GREAT reference for daily
wear.

Like already mentioned -- there's no guarantee that there will even BE a new(er) SD next year...
