ROO yearmake 2007

Hi Gentlemen,
To be honest, I don't know much about watches.
I think this place is the best place to seek for comments & advises.

I've been wearing a Rolex Datejust, a gift from my Dad, for many years, & now I want something casual for night-outs & am currently in love with the AP ROO now because of the style & the brand, but don't know much about it.

I've just visited a local watch shop & saw the 1 in the attachment & I fall in love with it right away.

The salesman showed me the the box & all, & it's made in 2007. The shop's replaced the new leather traps. & He quoted me $15k for this ROO. I have not made any bargain yet because I think this's not a good deal. I dont know...just a gut feeling, I could be wrong, so please educate me.

My very first question is, with $15k, can I get a much newer AP ROO? if so, from where please?

for $15k, can I get a same style but much better watch than AP ROO?

I don't plan to sell the watch soon, however, re-sell value is something I'd like to have for a peace of mind. The reason being, I used to love the Rolex Daytona A LOT but not anymore! Had I bought the Daytona awhile ago, I'd probably sell it for AP ROO now.

Thank you for any comment & advice.
Danny

15K can definitely get you a newer model ROO in mint condition.

Also, the one above can be had for around 13K easy.

Goodluck!

Thanks Samui & fai9al.
The watchshop just called me offered me $13,800 even though I have not made any offer yet.
I asked for the model no. & got this: 25940SK.OO.D002CA.02

I googled it but couldnt find an exact match.

My problem is that I'm currently working HCM City, Vietnam. I dont have much options here.

I do have a family member in Southern California. However, not sure if my brother knows where to go for this AP.

Does anyone know where or how I could get this AP ROO with mint condition for $15k please?
Or
Should I just go ahead & make an offer $13k for this watch & be done with it?

Thank you very much for any input.

What’s the rush?
By your own admission, you’re not all that clued up on APs – so why not spend the time getting yourself up to speed, then looking around at what else you can have for the same, less, or slightly more money?
Have a look at chrono24 to get some ideas and prices – personally I wouldn’t touch the rubberclads. They look fine to start with, but over time they look very tired and it’s not cheap to make them look fresh again.
ROOs are also bulky and not svelte – maybe you should look at the RO chronos instead, if a regular 3-hander (15400) is not an option.

Not a good deal. Take your time and research the specific AP you want. $15k isn't an amount of money you want to take and rush into something with.

I do like the bulky looking, I want something completely different with my boring Rolex Datejust.
I do take your advice & have done some research. Please see my input below.
Thank you!

Hi gents, after hours of online research, I realize that the 1 i posted is 44mm. The watch-shop offers $13,800 which is ok. in the ballpark on chrono24 like AK797 suggested.
However, the 1's on chrono24 are all rubber bands & I prefer the leather bands.

I went to AP website & found out that they have a smaller 1 42mm model 26470ST.OO.A801CR.01 & brandnew 1 can be had for $17,800 on chrono24 .

I have a gut feeling that the 42mm 26470ST.OO.A801CR.01 would fit on my small wrist better than the 44mm.

Unfortunately, I cannot find any 42mm in HCM city yet. To try it on, I'll have to make a trip to the nearest AP authorized dealer in Singapore to try on the 42mm to make a final decision.

Please share your thoughts on my decision.

Indeed.

There are other members of the forum who live in HCMC who are knowledgable about AP. Steve (Muzz) will probably be able to offer some insight on the local AP options.

Take your time and get the right watch, you'll be glad you did.

I got a way newer 2013 AP ROO on a bracelet for 15k.

This is a rubber clad AP ROO which I've seen go for 13k maybe a little less.

I would wait and really find yourself a nice example. PM me if you need help searching the forums for some. I found myself a pretty good deal.

The rubberclad in your pic is 42mm but discontinued. There is a new range of 42mms released, I like the grey and black dial, you seem to like the safari, brown subdials. Check them out on the AP website and yes you do need to try on if you've never done so before.

ROO yearmake 2007

The 26470st has Safari, grey, navy and black themes. All are 42mm with leather strap as default (except for Navy which comes with rubber strap). The 26470 are 2014 models which come with see-thru sapphire back case unlike older models

You should try them and see which one sings to you. Don't worry about the rubber strap on Navy. You can always buy some nice leather strap from apbands.

If you are coming to Singapore, I can PM you some trusted dealers around here with good price.

You're correct 100% on all counts. I thought of order a leather strap in case I can't find an exact match.
& I REALLY like the see-through sapphire back case. Oh God. My mouth is watering thinking about it.

If the 26470st Safari can be had for $17,805,

I asked the watchshop if they can order me the 26470st Safari for about the same price of $17,805. They said they cannot!

So, ~$18k would be a good deal, am I correct?

what makes me fall in love with the AP I posted is the:
- White face
- Black octagon bezel (is that what it's called?)
- Leather strap - (This's not important since replaceable)
- size 42mm.

The 26470st Safari doesn't come with black octagon bezel, does it? I don't see it on the AP website.

Any other tips & advises please?

If your wrist is less than 6.5 inches, a 44mm will be too big, I have 6.9 and while I could wear one I still find them a tad big, so I went with a 42, I think the 42 would be better for you.
Nice city you live in, I loved crossing the street there, the sea of motorcycles which never ends amd you need to calmly go ahead and they avoid you, that was awesome, plus my wife was terrified which was funny...

Wow...Thank you for taking time to post up those links for me. I appreciate that!
I'll try to be patient for a few more weeks to see if anything else come up locally.
I do have a difficult decision to make here.
- Less damage to the wallet for an old watch but the face is exactly what I like (white face, black bezel)

- Quite a bit more damage to the wallet for the new safari (a trip to Singapore to try on the safari, plus the missy is gonna tag along for her shopping for sure)!!!

My wrist is 6.75 inches & You're right, 42mm looks big enough on me. I wouldnt want a 44mm...that would be too big for me.

Glad to hear you like HCM city.
traffic here is quite crazy ... no yield for pedestrians. You might be rear-ended if you stop to yield for pedestrians. Just insane.
I'm driving here now & I can tell you that it's 1 of the best methods to naturally increase testosterone levels !!!
