1860 5.650XXX white dial
Hi,
I've been Reading the forums for some time now, but I can't participate much because of my not so good english. Anyway, I'm making quite an effort to translate my thoughts and humbly ask for your help and opinión on a 1978 1860 I'm interested. The watch I'm looking for must be from 1978, my birthdate. That is a must. I will post you some pictures of it: The bezel is obviously a service one, but the hands and dial are tritium. I just hope the dial is not also a service one I guess that the end-links should not be so difficult to arrange for a good professional The dealer is asking 7000 euros ($7200). Only watch and box. no papers I know it is expensive but, would is it easy to find another 1978 1860 in better shape for this money? As I said, I need your advice if this watch is a pass or if it could be admitted as an "expensive but reasonable" one Thank you so much in advance for your opinion and guidance! |

Everything looks ok to me and I don't think the price is bad at all. The insert as you said is service, but dial and hands check out ok/original to me. Cant tell if the dial is faded and a bit spotty or if its the crystal but I don't think its the dial. Patina is really nice and pretty even too. The case has seen a few polishes but not bad in my opinion. The lugs are still relatively thick and the crown guards are ok too. Still has a 702 crown with is good and also what looks to be a pretty polished service crystal.

Looks like a nice example. If you are looking for a nice, original example in that price range, besides the insert being replaced, the bracelet is also a later version as evidenced by the clasp. Check the clasp code, it should be VC or VD, which indicates 1978 and 1979 respectively. (VB would be 1977.)
Clean, nice original examples seem to be in the $7,000 range at this time.
