Icon5 Where can you go to see the highest concentration of quality watches per sq mile...?

I've been working for an Investment Bank in Canary Wharf for about 3 months now, and before I started using this website I knew buggar all about watches. Since I started taking an active interest (thanks TRF) I've found myself watchspotting in the workplace, and MAN there are some incredible watches on show.

Just today on the trading floor I saw Rolexes and Breguet galore, a Patek Perpetual Calendar (about £60,000 worth!), and yesterday I saw an Audemars "Jules Audemars Clinton Foundation" (a special edition - only 42 made I've just found...god knows how much it's worth! ).

So I put it to you...is there a better place for watchspotting?

that's easy... Midtown Manhattan in the 50's

Midtown Manhattan - around Madison and 57th. Unfortunately this is where I work and I'm literally surrounded by temptation every day:

1) Tourneau Time Machine 57th and Madison
2) Tourneau 53rd and Madison
3) Wempe 54th and 5th Ave.
4) Kenjo 57th and 6th
5) Cellini 54th and Madison
6) Aaron Faber Gallery 53rd and 5th
7) Bergdorf Goodman (Vintage Watches) 57th and 5th

Arghhh

There appeared to be several hundred of Rolex's there, and a store across the hall with higher end watches like PP. Their is also a cartier store with many watches on display, but not quite as many as the other two. If that isn't enough the Wynn is directly across from the fashion mall, with many AD's there too. Those watch stores are big too. My vote is for the Las Vegas Wynn and surrounding area. Also somewhere else on the strip may have it beat, but I doubt it.

I was about to say the same thing. If you put that store at the center of a square mile it would probably rival anywhere else.

I was also going to suggest the square mile surrounding Harrods in Kensington, London. There is some bling there - lots of wealthy people, particularly lots of Arabs.

That is very thin. Probably too light for me
All my watches and my wifes don't add up to 100,000

Based on my sightings this summer, the Hamptons, NY. On a single walk down Main Street, dinner time, I stopped counting after 50- my wife was getting annoyed.
Interesting note though: West Hampton - new money- Subs very popular.
Southampton,- old money- GOLD Rolexes (Presidents and YG Subs, TT Subs).
East Hampton, Bridgehampton, Sagaponik, - way old money and a lot of it- This is where the mine hits platinum. These people got the $$ for it. I saw 3 Platinum Presidents just walking from my cheapo Porsche (it was surrounded by 2008 Bentleys and Ferraris) to the restaurant. My YG President felt like a wilted flower....but I love it still!
So there you have my vote on the Rolex Density Demographic Study.

I have to get to Dubai for more research....

The best places for watches?

New York, Las Vegas, Paris, Hong Kong. I have been to New York and Las Vegas and both have fabulous selection in a wide variety of stores. It is nice to see the various brands in person because often they are much more impressive than they seem in pictures.

I haven't been to Paris or Hong Kong, but many have told me about the tremendous selection available.

What about Zürich or Geneva? Surely there must be some excellent watch shopping in the middle of the country which is famous for it?

On wrists? My money would be somewhere in Asia with a high population density - Hong Kong, Tokyo (Shinjuku), etc.

I travel on business A LOT and there seems to be a very high concentration of passengers sporting just about every model in the airports I frequent.
