I like the Tudor sub......79090/79190.....but the more I think about it and the more I look @ my black bays....I love the black bays more. It's got more character with the snowflake hands in line with Tudor and I think the 79090/79010 mercedes hands try too hard to be Rolex. On the other hand, I would love Tudor to start having 2 lines of text on the Black Bays versus the 4 lines.....but the Black Bays are pure winners. The 94110 with the snowflake hands IMO is the real winner.

The Tudor Sub may be my next watch.
The Black Bay never did anything for me, then I tried it on . . . Now I like it even less. Not for me at all. But ain't it great we all have choices. |

I would be all over the Black Bay except for I just can't get warm to the mixing of the snowflake hands and the round plot markers. Push come to shove, I would probably go with the sub.

That Tudor Sub gives me a little tingle. The Black Bay, nothing.

The Black Bay the modern Tudor Sub. The Tudor 79090 Sub is the standard of Tudor Subs. It's like 5513 vs the 114060. I am a fan of the Black Bay but I would choose the 79090. In blue would be even better

The Sub looks epic. The Black Bay looks like it's trying to be something it's not IMHO.

I'm a big Tudor fan and really like both watches, but if either of them can be accused of "trying to be something it's not", it's the Tudor Sub. The Black Bay has a distinctive look, unique to Tudor, whereas the Tudor Sub looks just like a Rolex Sub (apart from the words on the dial, shield logo and triangle markers).

I prefer the Black Bay for the in-house movement, unique look and I like the riveted bracelet now that I saw it at my AD. I also don't want a 21 year old watch that is not original to me. I have been down that road before and won't do it again.

I like the idea of the Tudor but for me modern trumps vintage (just can't get over the clasps and how flimsy they appear compared to modern.

I love my Tudor Black Bay but the Tudor Prince Oysterdate Submariner 79090 (Blue) is my next watch!

I have a blue Tudor Submariner 79090, and it would be the last watch of my collection I would ever sell.

This Tudor SUB is a wannabe argument is ridiculous. It was made by the same company for different reasons. It is just a different watch from a different time. It's not like it is one of the many clones that are made today.
It is literally a Rolex case, a Rolex dial with a Tudor name and an ETA movement that is MADE BY ROLEX. It is the ultimate bargain in style and function without being a knockoff or a wannabe. If one does not like it they don't have to buy it (or like it) but it is no wannabe, just different. |
