I'm Back, And I Have A Question For The Experts!!

As many of you know, I have been fighting some health battles for the past couple of years. I'm doing much better and my problems are in remission except for the pesky bilateral PE and the tumor in my spine. Other than that, life is good.

Many of you know about my love for the DJ and the idea that I can never have enough. It's hard to beat me in knowledge on a DJ, but my question is about the GMT 2. The 116713 to be exact.

I had lunch with a friend who was wearing a 116713 he just purchased pre owned. The watch had a green dial and gold 24hr hand. I thought a green dial only came in solid 18k. I've looked around and I've only found two other 116713's with a green dial and 24hr hand.

So, my question for the experts is this .. Did Rolex make a 116713 with a green dial and gold 24hr hand, or is it possible the dial and hands were swapped from a solid gold model? No question the watch is real, I'm just curious about the dial and gold 24hr hand. Please let me know what you guys think. I may be in the market for a 116713 or a 116613 (I know, huge difference from what I usually buy) and I like the look of the two tone and green dial, but for the money I want it to be all factory.

Thanks,

Robbie

Glad you are doing better. Pretty sure the green dial only comes in the 116718 YG model. Perhaps it was swapped or a non OEM dial.

I've only ever heard of a green dial GMT coming on the full YG model.

It's a genuine dial swap, seen a couple of them here and they look awesome, I'd be very tempted to do the same.

I am not an expert on any Rolex watches and can not help you with your question. But it is always good to hear someone won their health battles. I wish you well and congrats.

It's a dial swap. I think there is one on sale on eBay. They do state it's a dial swap from a 18k. I think the seller is in Florida also.

Glad you're doing better mate!

As has been stated it's a dial swap for sure, but I have to say the green dial is amazing on the watch and if I like bi-metal watches, I'd do this in a heartbeat!

I m happy to hear that you are well! I sincerely hope everything gets sorted with your health at last.
Now as mentioned before, if it looks like that, it was modified but does still look good in my opinion.

Best,

I actually had breakfast with the very same friend this morning, and he told me that the dial and gold 24hr hand was swapped from his 18k GMT2. He likes the black dial and green hand on the solid piece. The green dial on the two tone looks sharp, and I saw one on ebay for the high 11k range which is more than I'm willing to spend on that watch. It's all good because I just committed myself to a 116233 .. I can't ever seem to stay away from the DJ's .. They are my favorite above all others.

I believe I saw the same watch on ebay .. It's in the high 11k price range .. That's a little more than what I want to spend on that piece, but it is a beauty!!

Thanks .. Yes, that is a sharp looking watch .. And I love the 2 tones because they seem more versatile .. The solid yellow GMT, Sub, Daytona all look great, but their size makes them look as if the owner is wearing a huge block of gold on their wrist .. A 36mm DJ, DD in solid yellow look great .. I have a Tridor Masterpiece (pearlmaster) which I think looks stunning!

Now, as for the GMT and Sub in solid white gold, those look amazing and they fly under the radar. The same can be said for the platinum Daytona which is also amazing.

That's the one!! .. I really love that combo, and I really wish Rolex had made the 2 tone like that!! I saw the DJ2 TT with the slate dial and green romans that I wish Rolex made for the 33mm TT DJ because I'd also but that in a heartbeat .. What's great about the TT GMT2 is that the dial and 24hr hand are factory made which doesn't take away from the beauty of the watch .. I'm not totally against aftermarket diamond dials and bezels on a older DJ or DD as long as they are of high quality and not junk .. I have seen some very bad dials and bezels which have totally ruined a otherwise beautiful Rolex.
