Leather Vs Oyster

Anyone prefer leather strap to the Oyster Bracelet?
Or rubber to Oyster?

On the Explorer and Air King straps look more retro to me and more pleasing.

This^^^

My buddy is a watch collector and has multiple Rolex and several other high end brands. I cant stand any of his watches on an Ostrich or fabric or rubber straps. To me it just makes a watch look like a watch bought at walmart. It takes away form the eye appeal to take the standard bracelet and put on a $30strap.

I switch between Everest rubber and the oyster bracelet for my Sub. I like both.

Generally prefer bracelets on all models, but it would depend on the model. On the Day Date , the watch and bracelet are forever "linked" in my mind.

There are many watches that look good on a strap. But in my opinion all the Rolex models that come on a bracelet look better on a bracelet. It is a more balanced look to my eye. I also do not like the look of a strap with endlinks on any watch.

I prefer the bracelet, it's half the watch design after all, but will wear a vintage head on carefully chosen, period-style (i.e. not Hodinkee-style fashion strap) leather, if the bracelet is long gone.

BLNR is on my SubC bracelet

SubC is on NATO
BBN is on NATO or leather straps
Tudor Sub on NATO or leather straps

This is my setup... of all my watches only 1 is on a bracelet (the BLNR) all others including non Rolex / Tudor are straps or NATO

I think the dressier models like the DD, DJ and Skydweller belong on a bracelet.

I think the sport models look great on a suitably rugged leather strap, or a good rubber strap, for a change of pace. Any dive watch can happily be worn on a strap when you want to. And I would extend that logic to any of the other Rolex sport models too.

I bought waterproof watches so I can jump in the water with them. Since leather isn't suitable for that I stick with the oyster and the occasional NATO.

Daytonas on strap only for me... with the exception of the platona, which has been appealing to me more and more. Otherwise, metal.

It seems crazy to ever separate a Rolex head from its body. Oyster all day everyday. Really though SubC

I have love the look and feel of leather on my 1016 but you certainly can't go wrong with an oyster.

Considering that any alternative to the bracelet that the watch came with new will null and void any guarantee or warranty, I would say that the answer is simple

I don't see why. I've seen plenty of people swap their sub onto a nato strap...I don't think they lost their warranty coverage doing that.

I personally love a watch on a leather strap. I wish Rolex offered them that way and had lug spacing that was a little more strap friendly. I think my ideal watch would be a 39mm Explorer on leather but I understand it's quite a tight fit.

I like leather on some watches.
The rubber and Rolex look doesn't work for me.
I prefer the oyster over both, and especially over the jubilee.

I prefer the bracelet on my SD4K... it's a superior bracelet. I switch between my oyster bracelet and leather on my BLNR... but, truthfully, I prefer the leather.

I like watches on straps, but with Rolex, for some reason, only the bracelet feels right.

Depends on the watch, I think! I rather like the look of a sub or black bezel 16750 on a leather NATO, but I am a big fan of the Oyster. I had my 16753 on a leather NATO for a few hours; I didn't like the way it sat up on my wrist.
