Looks refinished wide boy dial to me.

Here's a couple of my original 1603 dial for comparison:

I have a Black Matte dial for sale in one of my listings (#46)...

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=471161

It has T SWISS T printed at the bottom. The finish looks about the same...

Weird, the gold on black font doesn't seem as fine on any of them, including the OP's.

Fair enough, it may well be original as the font looking less, for lack of a better word, "refined" was what I was going from.

I agree but I think these service dials exist T SWISS MADE T

This is how the printing was on the quickset version of the same era.

Being that the case was obviously done by either Rolex or someone who had the equipment we could speculate that it was serviced at Rolex and this was the appropriate service dial at the time...speculation but plausible.

My 2.9 mil 1600 has a T SWISS MADE T dial that I believe is a service/replacement.
