New Insert and New Shoes on the 6538
it's pretty rare to come across a practically NOS MK1 Kissing 40 jet black insert. But when you do find one, you have to buy it no matter what the cost! that's exactly what I did. Didn't even hesitate.
had the insert installed on my big crown and it looks awesome. Also, today my phoenix nato strap order came in from the UK.. The official MOD nato straps. I just had to strap this on the 18mm bond nato to complete the look. Nothing like showing off a little spring bar action. What do you guys think? |

I doubt I will be installing the faded insert back, these old brass coined bezels are very thin and delicate. There is a nice pressure fit of the current insert, so as long as I own the watch, it's installed for good! |

WOW! Beautiful watch sir.
Can I ask a potentially dumb question? Why does the version that Bond (James Bond) is wearing not have minute marks on the insert (1-15)? Just a movie thing?

That's why watches That still retain their original factory parts are so expensive and rare. Back in the day parts were routinely changed durring normal service. No one ever thought these pieces would be worth what they are today. Especially in original factory spec. |

I hate to be "that guy", but the Goldfinger/Thunderball strap was actually a 16mm. Also, his strap was just a straight-through, it didn't have the extra nato keeper flap.
Sorry! (don't hit me!) PS: Still an awesome watch that I would gladly give my left n*t for. |

Side note: after decades of seeing that pic and watching that movie...is that even Sean Connery's real wrist? It looks remarkably hair-less.
