A week from my new SS sub-C date, immediately took of all the plastic cover and now already got first scratch on my clasp.
I am not going to baby the watch, but still feels like |

Ever since my first scratch I have been wearing my watch without worrying about it, and it is much more enjoyable this way...

This is the very first scratch I got on mine 6 years ago. To say the least I was ticked off but I will never forget changing the clutch in my Jetta in the dead of winter because of it. It's a pleasant reminder, embrace it my friend.

So very true. Especially, for me anyway, on the clasp and bracelet. Here is my two month old clasp. The picture actually makes it look good; the camera doesn't seem to pick up all the damage.

What gets me is I don't even know when the scratches occur. I just see them appear on the next wearing, the next day (or week or whatever).

I've had a few new ones in recent times. I just take a look at that first scratch and say, Oh well.
The first one is the hardest. After that, it doesn't matter anymore. Enjoy the watch.

The only cure for what you are feeling is more scratches.

Clasp scratches are inevitable. Just wait till you scratch the case. Then it gets REAL. You'll go through the same feelings all over again.

First scratch is the worst; however, after a day or two, you won't even notice.

I understand your angst.
Last weekend my college football team lost on a heartbreaking Hail Mary with not time remaining on the clock. I was beside myself and after a brief rant, I stormed out of the room! As I walked through the kitchen I banged my GMT against the granite countertop center island. My heart hit the floor. I got out my 200 spec reading glasses and and turned on a very bright light looking for a scratch, crack or dent. Nothing, I mean nothing!!! I checked every square cm of that puppy and there's no scratch or any damage whatsoever. I was beyond relieved. When wearing my watch I wear long sleeves shirts and frequently wipe it down with a Plasma screen cleaning cloth. It still looks brand new out of the box. |
