Question about these Custom Blue submariner dials and bezels
Can anyone tell me are these "custom blue" bezels and dials authentic Rolex from another model or are they not made by Rolex??
I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one of these 16610 versions with the custom blue insert and dial. Please see photo for reference of what I am talking about here: |

Counterfeit dial and bezel insert. Make sure it is what you really want because you will never get your money back if you decide to sell later.

Ah... I see,
I would have to swap it back to a black bezel insert and black dial to sell it again then? I'm not a fan of counterfeit.... I'll have to think about this for a bit. update: I found the online store that sells the custom inserts. It appears I could get a much better deal on a pre-owned mint 16610 and swap the dial and insert for my own use, and if I wanted to sell I could swap it back to original quite easily. I like this idea better. |

1: Wife is completely fine with me spending $6000ish for this, but would "not" be fine with $25K...
2: I actually prefer the look of the slimmer lugs ( I have a tiny 6.25" wrist) and the completely brushed bracelet of the 16610 over the thicker lugs and polished center links of the 116619. 3. I think, since this is a sports watch after all, it is my personal opinion it is more appropriate to be stainless 904 vs 18K white gold. I just have this thing about solid gold, to me it should be "gold" color... |

Yes, I'm not sure how I feel about it. It still would be an authentic Rolex, but with different colors for the non-authentic dial that were never offered by rolex in this configuration. I do prefer the look of all blue though....I'll think about it a while. |

You can get an oem blue insert for the 5digit series ,need some search but well worth it(these inserts were sold for the 16618 sub but the gold writing turned silver over the years) iPhone/Tapatalk

Thank you for that info, but I'm trying to stay away from the black face because of the glare on the crystal.
I really wish Rolex would use the anti glare on the underside of their crystals... |

I personally would advise against that watch.
If you must have blue bezel and/or dial, then there are other watches. Maybe the Sub is not for you. As for AR, Omega has that covered.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm not really interested in going the "custom dial" route, that is only a stones throw from wearing a replica for me. I should probably pass on this sub. |

I love these "sharks." I really want to have one done but I've only seen one blue insert that isn't a replica since I've been looking. And I'm not really wanting to put a fake insert in. I guess the search continues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You can also get s genuine 116619 dial and a blue insert with silver fonts rom an early 16613, change the pearl cup to silver and you have no aftermarket parts.

I'm going to go a different direction for now. I'm really not a fan of anything that even smells non authentic.
Maybe I can get the wife to come around to me buying a 16618 on a rubber strap instead... |

Keep in mind the gold font will make it look a bit different than your desired look. Had it been me, I would have bought an all original 16610, aftermarket dial and insert... separately. Black dial and insert to the safe for keeping, and to be refitted upon my desire to sell. The old style 16613 and 16803 inserts had white font, but alas they also had tritium pearls that should be as dead as Good Friday. |

I have that exact same dial available (with matching bezel insert), and would have saved you a couple hundred $$. Sigh... |

I've found an purchased genuine Rolex blue sunburst dial and blue bezel insert from 16613.
And I've found a good base black 16610 to swap them on to. I will keep the original black dial and insert to be swapped back if/when I decide to sell. This works for me, all genuine Rolex parts, good enough for me :) |

Basically what I think I want to end up with is the 16613 but without the gold crown, bezel edge, or middle link on the bracelet.
I like the blue and gold look "Go Bears!", but I want less gold elsewhere on the watch. I'll just play around with different configurations to see what I like best. Different strokes... At the moment I'm thinking my favorite combo is going to be blue and gold dial and bezel insert, and blue rubber strap. Instead of the "smurf" this may become the "cookie monster" Of course I'll post photos when all arrives. As with anything, nothing is permanent, and all can be reversed. Well not all, as they say the difference between a woman and a light bulb... Bought this dial: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162188994218...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It is not that difficult to swap the dials. If I don't like it I don't think it would take more than 15 minutes to swap out the dial. |

So this way I end up with the look I want, using all authentic genuine Rolex parts, and it is completely reversible back to the original black/black configuration in the event I would ever want to sell it.
I understand this configuration was never offered by Rolex officially. What do you guys think of this final product? Cool? Any objections? Do any of you feel like you have to go take a shower after reading this thread? |

Personally I'm not a fan at all. Mainly it's the color combo. It just does not sit right with me. But I'm not the one who has to wear it. So enjoy!

First "perfect" dial arrived with flaws. Seller honorably agreed to take it back without hesitation.

Tudor Sub 79090 and Tudor Pelagos - 2 of my collection that might work for you. Based on your wrist size the 79090 would be ideal I think.
