Most sought after Luminor in the current collection?

Is there a Luminor reference which is clearly the most coveted model, like for instance 15202 to AP, or 5711 to PP?

Hmm...I guess coveted means most wanted / therefore possibly most popular?

Most sought after could also mean - most purchased?

AAAGH!

I am going to say models 111 (now 510) and 312 - but not certain for the new blue seconds hand model.

My vote goes to 360 in terms coveted.

By "current" collection, do you mean BNIB and available at an AD or boutique? If so, I'm not sure you'll find a "coveted" model like the 5711 or 15202. Maybe the 233?

Why? In the end, coveted Panerais are LEs.

For Vendome, I'd go with the 360 followed by 127.

Pre-V (90s), maybe the 5218-202/A?

Overall, maybe the 6152-1?

I'd say the 233... seems to be the most sought after modern day Pam IMO. I adore mine and feel like it ticks off all the boxes for what I want in a single panerai watch.

Most sought after Luminor in the current collection?

I vote the new Luminor Due (PAM 676). You probably can't even jump in a pool with it on, but it looks and feels great on the wrist. Still has all the panerai design queues, but it's so thin and at 42 mm, hits my wrist's limit.

Plus the sales guy at the boutique in Vegas said his store is 1 of 3 places that have it (miami & NYC). So maybe that qualifies as sought after/tough to get.

^ I'm afraid the Due is the equivalent of taking the Submariner 114060, thinning it, and reducing the WR to 30 meters (as in, no swimming)... Sounds crazy? Well, same for a Panerai, IMO...

Or taking the Jumbo, changing the bezel so that it's round, covering the screws, putting it on a strap and doing it in PVD.

;-)

Well, I think the 2016 blue dials are right up there. LE, boutique only and not easy to come by. My 689 is one of only 300 pieces, if I have been informed correctly.

I certainly think the 233 is up there too and it's a great looking watch. There's a lot of love for it here and it's not difficult to see why

I knew that due post was gonna be trouble, I happen to like it but clearly it's not the go to luminor. I'd have to say 312 / 1312 but agree 233 is better just not sure it's the most recognizable

I knew it too. I actually was going to write a caveat in there but figured I'd leave it as is. My original post was going to include the whole Italian company / culture / importance of design justification.

But yeah you guys are right, and ultimately the main reason I didn't buy it when I had the chance - 3 bar WR is just tough to justify by today's standards.

I still want it.

233... Nice. But wouldn't 533 be a better pick for the 10-day power reserve, with similar looks? Is the case thickness the same on these two references?

233 = sexy dome + manual movement (more true to PAM roots) + regular lume + 1st in-house OP movement (for what that's worth).

The 312 is getting a blue seconds hand too? I thought the 1312 was bit not the 312

I will answer in three ways. All answers ignore the SEs.

In terms of accessibility, I don't think that there is a perennial 'coveted' PAM - most watches can be obtained fairly easily within 6 months of their release and there is not a regular model that is super hard to get because it flies off the shelf (although one of the boutique employees told me that they rarely had an 005 in stock).

In terms of popularity, I think the 24 may be the most sold luminor over the years, but it likely isn't the most coveted. The 88 is also very well sold. Keep in mind that the characteristics that 'Paneristi' value/covet are likely very different than the rest of the Paneri buyers.

In terms of desirability, most people buying a watch in this price range want an automatic with at least a couple of complications (seconds, date, gmt). The three watches that I think appeal to the new buyers the most are the ones mentioned, 312, 320 and 233.

My vote is for the 676 as well. Especially for folks with smaller wrists like mine and the lack of abundant availability like other models.

Surprised no one mentioned the bronzos (382 and 507). It is a Luminor sub.

Oh yeah, PAM 203......1950 domed crystal, Angelus movement 8 day brown dial

I think if anything this thread shows there is no highly sought after piece similar to Daytona C or 5711. I love the panerai watches but it seems like all of them have significant depreciation I'd want to purchase one pre-owned.
