Fakes Getting Better And Better, Such A Pain To Buy pre Owned From Privates.

Hi To everyone, I want to share an episode that happened to me in these days.

I was proposed a Audemars Piguet Barrichello, pre owned in mint condition from a private seller.
So I said : "if the price is good I will go for it l"
After a long chat, the private seller was saying that he lost the original warranty, can happen. ..

The day after we meet in my showroom and after a great look at the watch I wasn't 100% sure about his originality.

So I decided do bring it to my watchmaker and after opening the caseback the verdict was clear....

Be carefull, and buy only from reputable sellers!!!!

Sure this is the most important thing.

I wanted just to share my experience. If no one is talking about this reality some new buyers might be tricked.

Always look at the datewheel with the 42 and 44 ROO's. The fakes are using a Chinese A7750 with a redirection of gears to get the seconds @12. The datewheel position of the A7750 they used is much closer to the tachy ring. Also it is usually much deeper.

Looking at your picture I believe you where dealing with what they call a "franken" watch. They use generic parts to construct a 95% correct replica. You made a good call by opening it up. Always do so!

Talk about it somewhere else. TRF is not the place to talk about fakes. Read the rules please.
