Deep Sea Blue

For those of you who have seen the DEEP Blue in person.....but decided that depth and height of the watch was a tad big, how many went ahead with the purchase due to the beautiful dial alone?

Traded in a DS4K towards a DSSD-Blue about a year ago, love the size, thickness, weight and wrist feel, the dial clinched it.

Love it great watch. I use cloth collar extenders on my shirt cuff when I wear it with a suit. My wrist is a little over 8 inches so that doesn't help.

It is one of the most spectacular watches made, IMO.

Sadly, I let mine go for just the reasons you mentioned. I may get it back, someday, though.

I have a 7" wrist and it fits me great. You have to see it in the sunlight to really appreciate the dial. Can appear all black in low light situations but when you get some decent lighting on it the dial comes to life. Love the size and weight, but definitely must try on any dssd before purchase.

Me! It's thick for sure and stands up on the wrist; mine is 7.5" and I also think it looks fits great. I had initial reservations and tried on twice before buying but no regrets. Dial is incredible and I enjoy it now a year after purchase more than when I purchased it. Gets a ton of wrist time and no plans to part with it

Some pics on this forum do actually do it justice.
In real life you need to be in bright light to full appreciate the colour gradient and vivid nature of the blue along with the Kawasaki green text.
Then in low light it looks almost like it's all Black as noted by mistermann. Sort of the best of both worlds really.
The colour is gloss as well which adds very slightly to the pop the dial has

I have the black. My dad the blue. Most of the time his looks black to tell you the truth. It's the pictures here under ideal light that lets the blue really shine.

I had a DSSD and really liked it while I had other 43mm watches but once I had a few 40mms it felt a bit out of place. I wouldn't mind giving the DB a crack again now but unlikely in UK.

I bought it solely based on the dial.

I had tried the DSSD black dial multiple times and it just didn't sing to me. It's large and sits tall, but it's not a large wearing as some in my opinion. I think the case lugs actually look slimmer on the DSSD compared to the SubC.

When I saw the DBlue, it hit me like a ton of bricks and I had to have it.

The dial must be seen in person to truly appreciate it.

The height puts it into the casual only territory for me (where I believe it was intended) and because of this it fits well into my collection despite the height.

With an 8" wrist Daytonas, Subs and DD40s seem small. This one wears great and nicely balanced despite the case thickness

Had one for about a month. Loved the dial, but the slightly domed crystal and the height of the case eventually turned me against it. I prefer the SD4K. Wish they would release that model with the DB dial.

Bingo! If I had an 8"+ wrist, I'd consider it. With my 7" wrist, I even prefer the GMT/Exp II to the regular Sub, because of the thickness differences. The DSSD isn't on my radar.

I'm in the same situation. I had a chance to try on the blue DSSD last week in D.C. It looks awesome but my BLNR fits exactly like I want a watch to fit. If I had the money to have a few "fun" watches, I would definitely pick one up. I just couldn't see myself wearing it daily.

I am 65 and wanted to get my first Rolex even though I have had other Swiss made watches, ie Breitling, Tissot etc. I looked at most of the Rolexes and discovered the Deep Blue. I have 7 1/2 inch wrist and my Breitling is also 44mil. and same thickness and weight so the size and weight was no big deal but fell in love with the look. It amazes me how it changes depending on the light that it is in and I think this watch will be in demand for years to come.

I have a pretty small wrist, and the DSSD looks huge on it.

Having said that, I'm planning on it being my next watch!
