Would you make this trade?

As per my other thread, very keen on a ROC. I had a 15300 before which I loved, but traded down to a GMT Master to free up some funds whilst renovating a house etc. Boring, but now out the way, still alive to tell the tale and wanting back into an AP

The ROC is the one, it's superb. However struggling to make the numbers work with a wedding coming up next year etc. I reckon I could buy it around Feb/March but I am impatient.....

So I have the option of the following;

Handover my GMT Master plus £6500 in return for a 2011 39mm Royal Oak Dual Time (white dial).

The seller will take it back from me for £400 less in part ex against a brand new ROC whenever I am ready.

Take the deal and get back into an AP ASAP, or play the long game? Heart versus head haha

If seller confirms it in writing go for the DT now and then the new ROC when you're ready.

Why don't you wait until they release the ROC with inhouse movement?

Depends how badly you need an AP on your wrist. I've always taken the view that things are enjoyed far more when they are bought at the right time, there's no rush.

The dual time/£400 deal is good but bear in mind that APs (all Swiss watches) seem to be going up in the UK right now, my AD is predicting another rise in Jan '17. The dealer with the £400 offer is probably meaning that ok he'll take it back but there won't be any rrp price
movement on the ROc. Also how does the £400 deal work if the bezel gets scratched with wear, will he also want to deduct the cost of a service etc.

If you know the guy well and trust the deal and want an AP now then it's a great deal, I've never lost as little as £400 on any watch other than a Daytona so it sounds cool. As others have said get it in writing though.

Do we know they're coming out next year? If so, it won't be till summer or even later, and at what price point?

OP, I'd wait on the ROC if it were me. It's only a cpl months away and no sense losing 400 on the DT.
