How rare is a 14060 Submariner with Tritium Dial?
Do you think that the 14060 Submariner all original with Tritium Dial and Tritium Bezel will be a collectible by 2020 or by 2025?
This could mean that the price of this watch can increase by 10-20% over the next 5-10 years. I could be wrong. I predict that this watch will be worth as much as the 16610 Submariner since they probably made less 14060's than 16610's. I could be wrong on this. What are you thoughts. |

Is it a collectable watch? Yes. Will it continue to appreciate in value? Probably so, if past performance is any indication... But remember, they produced quite of few of these over the years- so condition, completeness, and originality will be the controlling factors. |

Tritium? Extremely rare. No Rolex watch sold today have tritium, so take extra special care of it.

You all know that "rare Rolex" does not apply anymore - since the late 1990s, right?
If an 14060 should - for any unknown and seen reason - should become rare; the universe has come to an end. |

Definitely not rare, but to address the other aspect of the OP's question, it's a watch that will likely hold its value and steadily appreciate - in so much as such things are predictable. A nice example, purchased well, should be a "safe" buy.

Nothing made in numbers on the order of X00,000 is rare.

Almost all the 14060's ever made will be with tritium dials.

A 14060 tritium with really good creamy patina, now that's something you would want to keep in your stable.

"Rare" is a relative term. I would say that very nice examples of 14060 Subs with tritium dials (great patina, unpolished cases, perfect dial/hands) are indeed "rare" and hard to find now, especially with full sets. Sure, you can find tritium-dialed 14060s, but the vast majority are not great examples.
I'd say all tritium-dialed Rolex sports models, especially the fine examples, are certainly collectable now and will increase in value over the years. Heck, the prices are already going up for those models. |

True physical numbers of this relatively once ubiquitous watch, may not be the most correlative factor of establishing rarity. From a UK perspective, demand is probably increased hugely just because the new ones are so hard to get recently
Not to mention those that just preferred the 5 digit reference in the first place |

Ref 14060 non date replaced the 5513/5512, which ended sometime in 1989-1990. The tritium 14060s were made until 1999-2000. The luminova 14060s continued until the ceramic later replacement 2009-2010.
There were so many of these made that even they became "vintage" status, prices won't appreciate much. If you're looking for vintage and value, consider the 5513s with surrounded tritium gold indexes. They were made in a lot less number than the matte dial ones and still are at much lower valuation. Also, the 14060s came in 2 different flavors, 2 lines and 4 lines. The 4 lines were made less than the 2 lines. |
