Changing date on ladies datejust

Is there a reason why you turn the crown clockwise to change the date on a ladies datejust as opposed to anti-clockwise on the men's version ? I know they are different movements but why wouldn't the date change also be anti-clockwise ?

Just curious, as I initially thought my wife's watch was broken the first time I set the date for her.

Thats correct for the ladies and on some movements like the cal 3035 the ladies cal 2135 2235 the hands turn the opposite way when the crown is moved clockwise.

It requires an extra set of gears to "reverse" the direction from that in the initial build. Depending on the year of the Ladies movements, not only the date but the hand setting is opposite from the larger men's movements.
