EVER HAD THIS EXPERIENCE? Kind of underwhelmed...
Anyone else experienced this ?
YES, I did my research, YES, I tried it on, ONLY UNDER AD LIGHTING, Yes, I went thru a ton of pics (deceiving...even the ones I took) I'm a bit underwhelmed by the bezel colors on the new BLRO I just purchased. Showed brighter and deeper when I saw it at the AD. It is a beautiful WG piece, but I'm just not wowed by the bezel colors. Anyone else have this underwhelmed feeling after a couple days? On any model? men. |

Lighting plays a big role on the look of all of our watches. Go to a store with white lighting from multiple sources (a lot of mall stores have this) and watch that baby gleam. Makes a tool watch like a Submariner flashy.

Look! Don't worry about the colors. Everything taken by these cameras looks soo good and so detailed, and quite frankly BIGGER!
You have there a grail of grails! In the sun it will look one way and in the dark another. Love it for what it is, and you will be happy

^This. For me, the iconic Pepsi bezel just didn't translate well to ceramic, for some reason. The colors just seem...well, to use your word, which fits....underwhelming. I''m not opposed to the idea of Pepsi on WG, but those colors just aren't truly Pepsi to me. On the other hand, the Smurf bezel and dial on WG are outstanding. My two cents.....

Richard -- I think you'll grown to appreciate the BLRO bezel, especially in different lighting environments. It's definitely a keeper IMO, and I like the red 24-hr hand much better than the BLNR blue... that can be difficult to see against the black dial. I do prefer the blue on the BLNR bezel over the BLRO though. Que Sera Sera.
Having tried the Smurf and BLRO on numerous times, aesthetically speaking, I think you made a great choice. Enjoy, and don't look back. |

I understand what he's concerned about. The bezel looks kinda dark pink instead of bright red in natural light. The bezel doesn't pop like a Pepsi GMT

It is known that the blue and red are not quite as vibrant and distinct as Rolex would have liked, which is why I think they released the BLNR first as they were still working on a two primary colour insert, so if you don't love the colours out of the AD I think it is fair enough. You live and learn.

Here I have color for you! Honestly this is one of my favorite pieces. Its Valjoux 7750 powered and was less than $500. Got to love the blue and red combo.

I almost pulled the trigger on the BLRO. I had the same experience as you; loved the deep/rich color at the AD. When I wore it near the store window, the sunlight made the color seem washed out. That was a deal breaker for me.

What's up with the 24 hr bezel? Does it have a GMT hand that I'm missing?

Too difficult to ship into the US...I'll offer this myself, and I'll cover shipping for both watches
I think give it some time. Its something I noticed myself but actually like. Similar to the hulk, I don't always want it blaring green at me. But do admit many of my watches look best on my drive into work with the sun out |

The bezel colors are definitely more subtle (or subdued) under most lighting conditions. But, like several of the Rolex line, under certain conditions it completely changes its character.
My hope is that more people will be like you and not like it and that it will be discontinued soon. So then mine will be worth a lot more. |

I guess I'm in the minority but I think it looks good. But I have not seen it in daylight. I will do that when I get a chance.

The hulk under AD lighting was the most magnificent thing I'd ever seen.Outside of AD lighting big difference.Still like it but was a big let down.

I was struck by it looking cranberry and blueberry when I bought it and it was much different than I expected but after wearing it and seeing it in different lighting conditions I loved it even more but agree it certainly is not RED and BLUE |

on color.. after a few days... ever? no. i've never soured on a watch because of aesthetics after the fact -- if it was good enough to buy in the first place. wearability, robustness and tinkerability matter more after the honeymoon. wear it. take the pain. grow strong! I would return it, sell it, or trade it if you are not happy. The whole point is that you should be 100% happy with a luxury purchase. Find a watch you WILL love and trade for that.
If you have the kind of personality that nothing makes you happy, well that is another story. But if you can find happiness in a watch, strive for that. Don't settle. |
