Royal Oak 15400ST with Rubber Strap Installed!

Hi All,

This is a follow up to my thread "Rubber strap conversion kit for RO 15400"

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=509520

I snapped pics throughout the entire install process. It's a little tricky and a little bit more time consuming than changing out a Rolex or Patek with spring bars, but once the brackets are installed on the rubber, it's only a pair of screws for each strap. Not bad at all.

So if you don't mind, i'll post pics from start to finish and end off with the end product. Kind of like a strip tease lol. Enjoy!

So the conversion kit consists of a few screws, a pair of brackets for each strap, and the beautiful AP deployment.

I started with installing the deployment on the strap.

One screw to remove the bar to attach the deployment.

Look at that AP!

Remove the bracelet

There's also a bar in between the lugs. I used the flat screw driver head to push it out.

And the bracelet is off.

Now to the straps. Insert the brackets into the strap. So for me the bracket notch pointing up seemed to work. I'm not 100% sure if this is the right way, but it works.
Name: pic7.jpg
Views: 2178
Size: 114.0 KB

Now secure the bracket to the strap. Requires the bolt and nut.
Name: pic8.jpg
Views: 2183
Size: 82.7 KB

And two screw drivers.
Name: pic9.jpg
Views: 2173
Size: 78.5 KB

Almost there. Lug screws to the bracket.

I think it looks great! It makes the RO 15400 feel like a different watch and a lot lighter as well. I love the bracelet and I love the strap. If you feel an ROO is too large for you or you want to sport up the look of your 15400, this is definitely a nice option!

Very nice. I'm thinking about getting the kit for my ROO. How much did the whole thing cost you? I got quoted $1400.

It's $1400 all in with LV taxes. I have to look for my receipt to get the individual price of the rubber strap, I think it was $695. I'll update the thread when I find it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the bracelet and the fit and comfort as-is is amazing. After seeing a black RO fitted with rubber at the AP boutique it sparked my interest. After trying it on I was sold. Changes up the look of the watch in a tasteful manner and pretty damn comfortable. Different strokes for different folks.

Hey D. My wrist is about 7". I think for the bracelet I took 2 links out. I believe the strap is a standard size.

For the life of me I can't find the itemized receipt, just the CC receipt. The box for the rubber strap does say $297. Which isn't bad considering the aquanaut's is roughly the same and everest straps are $225. The deployment clasp and hardware were the expensive pieces I guess.

So I goofed here. I had the buckle on the bottom of the watch rather the top. Oddly enough it was easier to clamp down, but I corrected it.

Interesting. Nice combo. But not sure if it looks better than bracelet. Probably just a different feel.

I have gone the opposite way. I have added a bracelet to my RO that comes originally in leather strap.

Love the 15400 it's my next watch for sure and also think I'll be picking up a rubber strap makes the watch look a lot more casual IMO almost like having two different watches

That's exactly how I feel with the rubber strap. It feels like an entirely different watch. It seems a little bit more understated. If I want the bling and the heft, I can put the bracelet back on.

Very nice. It's like having two different watches. I do the same thing with my Diver.

Have you considered adding a leather strap option as well? You'd have three different looks with the same watch.
