Dent in a brand new Rolex Submariner

Hey guys,

After following this forum for years, I finally bought my first Rolex. It is a beautiful Rolex Submariner. It was always between the GMT IIc and the Submariner and finally I decided on the Sub.

I bought the watch from an AD locally. He tried to size the watch yesterday but it has been sized well enough. I need to go get it fixed today.

While looking at the watch this morning, I saw a small dent on the lug. On the face, it seems prominent and I am considering going back to the AD to have him fix it for me. I know the watch will go through its own set of scratches but I did not expect it to come with a dent after paying a hefty sum for it. I am guessing the person trying to size it yesterday made the mark while using the screwdriver.

Some pics below of the scratch. Let me know what you guys think.

I don't know what to say. It seems an odd place to nail the watch with a tool while sizing the bracelet. I'll be interested to see what they say.

Good luck!

Do you think it could be a dot on the sticker ? have you removed the stickers already ?

It would require some strength to hit it to make a hole like that in the steel.

How many hours (days?) has it been from date/time you left the shop with the watch? Would have been best if you caught this BEFORE laving the shop?

Nope, it is not a sticker. It is some form of a dent. I wonder how that happened. I am guessing it happened while the person at the AD was trying to size the watch. I looked at it before he began sizing and it looked perfect. I could have overlooked it, however.

The watch was picked up yesterday evening. I noticed it this morning. So, it is less than 24 hours. Agreed, it would have been better to have noticed it prior to leaving the ship.

Sticker is still on. You can see the outline of it around the crown guard.

It wouldn't be the first time that removing a sticker cured a nasty scratch/gash/dent!
Peel the sticker off and see what happens.

How do you know it's not the sticker unless you peeled it off and then put it back on - because there is definitely a sticker on the watch in the pic you posted. There's one on the other crown side as well. I can see the tab.

Atleast we prevented the embarrassment of going to the AD and it happen to be the sticker.

Welcome and nice watch!!

I just looked at my four day old watch (also an 116610LN) and just realized that a few case stickers were still on. Funny. I didn't notice them.
