PAM112 or PAM183

Hi Guys,

I have ordered a PAM112 and it looks like it might be a while till I get. I just found out that may AD has a PAM183 in stock right now (my Ad is not in same City I live in). I like the Luminor better but I think that the PAM183 is a rare "Black Steel" model that is hard to find. It is only a few bucks more then the one I am ordering (I think it is old stock).

Should I pull the trigger and pick up the PAM183 or wait for the PAM112 to come in?

Does anyone have the PAM183? Can you post some pics of it for me?

Thanks,

Eric

go for the 183! It's rarer than the 112

If possible try on the 183 and a similar model to the 112 (ex. 111 or 104). I was lucky enough to try on both at my local AD. I went with the 112 because, one it just felt better on my wrist than the 183 and secondly the crown guard did it for me. And as for the 183 being rare, yes but I don’t think by much as both are base PAM models.

i have a 112 and a 197 (which is the 8 day version of the 183 but looks exactly the same)
they are both great, but definately have different looks. the 112 is more casual/sporty, while the 197 is more "dressy". i would just get the one you like the best and forget about which one is rarer.

here are the production numbers for each the last few years to see the relative "rareness". note the 183 actually has higher production numbers in the G & H series, the same in the I series. overall there were less made, but neither are that rare:

112: 1200 1700 1200 1200 1500 2500 2000

183: 0000 0000 1500 1500 1500 1500 1500

I would really get the one that you like the best. I wouldn't consider rarity to be a really signficant factor in this case.

Thanks for all your feedback. I think I am going to wait for the PAM112 to come in. I Like the sporter style and the crown guard of the Luminor. I just hope it will not take that long to come in.

Either, they are different for sure.
I personally prefer the Rad style, but you won't go wrong with either.
You might end up picking up a Rad to compliment your Luminor down the road.

112 gets my vote. You just might end up getting both as one is pure Luminor and the other is part of the Radiomir line.

I think the 112 is the best looking Panerai out there (other than the 000, maybe). The dial is clean and perfect looking, IMO.

i bought my first panerai less than 1 month ago, and it was 112 (104 too), i almost changed the 112 for 183 but imho the 112 is the panerai that you must have, so the 183 stay on the line, it is the next.

try

i think you best try one, as the 112 is the base luminor and the 183 the base Radiomir.. they both fall diff on the wrist.

go with what smiles at ye, with these models there is no speaking of one being really more rare then the other. Here is a pic of my 112 (left) next to the 98 what is a rad , however this one has 2 crowns, not a 183 but you can see the diff in the model/style.

Thanks for the feedback. After trying on the 183, I like the 183 better! It just looks better and feels better on my wrist.
