Hurricane Ike wave height
This website monitors the buoys that exist through the waters surrounding the United States.
http://seaboard.ndbc.noaa.gov/maps/WestGulf.shtml I've been watching buoy #42001 out in the Gulf of Mexico which looks to be located in the strongest part of Ike (for now). If you click on 42001, it will give you all kinds of information associated with what this bouy is doing. If you go down to the middle of the page, you will see the wave height at 30.2 feet under "Detailed Wave Summary." As the storm moves closer, you can check out the other bouys and what they are experiencing. Just amazing at the power of these storms. John

Yes, that is a cool site. That stinking hurricane has about 4-5 feet of water under my camp right now in coastal mississippi. I got 5 ft last week from Gustav. Just finished cleaning up from Gustav. GEEEZZZ......

I'm very sorry for all the people having to deal with these disasters all the time! I know I couldn't cope with that!
Please try to be safe, and evacuate when ordered... Take care
