Although I'm a (mechanical) watch enthusiast ever since I can tell the time, on TRF I usually roam the 'Open Discussion' forum

A couple of weeks ago, TR started a thread about favourite rock bands and that triggered something deep inside me. As a child of the sixties I grew up with great bands like Deep Purple, Status Quo, Rory Gallagher and.... Uriah Heep. I ordered their 'Uriah Heep Live '73' CD 3 weeks ago and it arrived today.

I want to thank TR and the rest of the gang here for bringing back these memories. I'm playing it right now and I'm in heaven! What a performance!

What a band! My hair has started to grow and has reached my shoulders, my sideburns can be used as a parking lot and all of a sudden, my pants are skin-tight in the upper part

Bought my first album about the same time Led Zep 2, still got it as well

A little OT but I read a thread this week and one of the posters or maybe the original thread poster, I can't remember, is an opera singer and had her website attached. I'm pretty much a heavy metal and rock guy who has an open mind and listens to a variety of music but NEVER opera. I checked out her site and didn't think too much about it although I certainly appreciated her talent.

Later in the week on PBS there was a program on the life of Pavarotti which normally I would have skipped over and I decided to give it a look and I'm hooked. Tomorrow I will be buying a couple of his CD's and I can't wait to play them on my stereo. His voice is beyond description. I have never been a fan of opera but I think that TRF member sort of lit a bit of a fuse in me that I didn't realize was there. One of the many benefits of being a TRF member.

I absolutely loved Uriah Heep. I loved Lady in Black and July Morning as my favorite songs. I smoked more reefer to July Morning than one could imagine. The words are fabulous as that is truly what all of us are looking for; "LOVE".

Lady In Black's words were haunting. This was an intelligent band with fabulous and tight lyrics.

I'm glad you are taking a trip down memory lane with a great band.

Been collecting records for many years. I have about 7000 of them. Of course I have some Uriah Heep.

1960's Psych, Garage Bands and Prog Rock is the second hottest genre to collect, in my opinion. An absolutely righteous genre, I might add.

Second to pre-war Blues. Again, just my humble opinion.

That's great you can have an open mind to music, I also saw that thread and thought it was fascinating. One of our friends is a pro opera singer and hearing her voice first hand can be an emotional experience

UH was one of my favorites at that time beside the others you mention. There was no
bass player that played like Gary Thain, unfortunately he died way too early.
Ken Hensley and Jon Lord was gods of Hammond´s with their unique sounds.

So now you have me to get out to my CD collection and dig up the UH live.

And vinyl is returning to mainstream! You can now buy sets of older records, e.g. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heartsclub Band on a 180 gram high quality record PLUS the CD plus a voucher to download the album in MP3 format!

I buy loads of 180 gram vinyl reissues.

My 180 gram Highway 61 revisted blows away the CD version.

Until now still my favorite song of their.

BTW my first Rock Band Albums I have is :
Slippery when Wet - Bon Jovi & 1984 - Van Halen.
