Tempted to flip a Hulk !!

Dear Rolex forum

I have been wearing a 116600LV Hulk for almost a year now I love the watch the green is simply stunning gets quite a lot of attention more than my GMT Batman for sure, recently I've been told I'm next on the list for a James Cameron Deepsea, I'm thinking am I making a wise decision with flipping my Hulk for the Deepsea, I've worn the watch it's a big beast I'm quite lucky to be able to pull it off quite well as I'm quite tall and work out slightly.

Also regarding the hulk I found it wears very similar to my GMT II Batman yes there are differences but still sit very similar, I was wondering if having a little more variety is better when these are my only two watches. Third coming later in the year PP Nautilus can't wait.

I'm getting what I paid for on the Hulk, I'm also picking up the James Cameron at list from an AD.

So flip the Hulk for the James Cameron what's your thoughts

Tough call as I own all 3 - Sub LVC, BLNR and DSSD-Blue. They are all so different and wouldn't want to give up on any of them. With that said the DSSD-Blue is a special watch and if you have to sell one to get it so be it. Good luck with your decision!

Really tough call. As Ken said all here are wonderful in their own way.

I guess my thinking would be that if you have to flip one to get the DBlue, then it might as well be the hulk. This way you'll have a diver and a GMT in your rotation.

Good luck and welcome to TRF

I think the hulk is unique enough to keep along with the blnr and D-blue. If you have funds to get a nautilus later this year than I assume the 10k to keep the hulk is also possible? One day soon the hulk may be discontinued as it has been out for 9 years or so now. (could be wrong but 2008 release?). 9 years is a long run for an allocation piece.

They're different for sure... both great time pieces. I personally didn't like the DSSD over time because the curved crystal makes the dial slightly harder to read as opposed to the flat crystal on the Sub - I also found it to be a bit clunky for my personal taste. Good luck!

Very tough choice.
But if it was my only option to get a Deepsea, I would flip the Hulk.

I love the Hulk and have owned several of them over the years. I currently have one in the collection and it gets a lot of wrist time. The only time I have ever moved a Hulk is when I need funds for another purchase. The trade/sell value has always been high. If you can do it, why not keep the Hulk and the BLNR and add the DSSD-Blue. You mentioned adding a PP later in the year, why not just add now, have three and when the PP shows up make the decision which of the three must go. The values will remain high on all three so you should not get hurt on a flip or sell.

Wow that is a tough call. I had both Hulk and BLNR at the same time. I opted to flip the GMT rather than the hulk BUT that was mainly because the Hulk had more sentimental value. I honestly don't know what I would do that wasn't the case. I would probably be tempted to keep both, pass on the DSSD and wait eagerly for the PP.

i almost flipped my hulk for a D-Blue, but ultimately I stumbled across one at an AD and just bought it. I'm lucky it worked out that way, because owning both simultaneously allowed me to realize within a weeks time that the DSSD just wasn't for me, and my Hulk is my all time favorite watch.

That said, I still love the D-Blue (even though I sold it), and continue to drool every time i see one. However the fit was just wrong for me.

If you can pull off the fitment, I don't think you'd be making a mistake. However, I would strongly suggest doing as I did which is to own them both simultaneously. If you can't afford to obviously don't stretch yourself thin, but if you can think of it as loaning yourself the money for a month, getting a feel for them both and then making a decision, it might cost you less in the long run.

I wouldn't trade the Hulk for DSSD.

I'm a huge LVC fan and one of my favorite watches but if you need to flip it to get a D-Blue I would do it. It's next level in my book..

I'd flip the hulk. The D-blue is a little more standout in my book.

I say flip the hulk, it's tougher to find a d blue...down the road, you can always pick up another hulk.

Very tough decision.
The hulk is one of my favorite watches. Would not flip it for the d-blue, and I love the d-blue.
What I would do is flip the BLNR for the D-blue.

DSSD is a special watch and I never see myself being without it.. I love the uniqueness of the Hulk as well, but I would flip it if I wanted something else bad enough.. good luck

No, I wouldn't. I love my D-Blue, but I wouldn't flip my LV-c for it. And this comes from a flipper.

I think what I would do in your shoes is buy the D-Blue outright and postpone the Nautilus another year.

Good advice here. I've owned both (the reg DSSD) and ultimately glad I stayed with the LVc. The DSSD was just too thick for me and although I'm ultra careful, seemingly banged it into everything lol! Good luck to you.

One don't flip a Rolex. You collect them. You will find your way to get the Deepsea.

If you must flip, I would move the BLNR. As you even stated, it is under the radar and you will have another incoming blue with the DSSD. The hulk is so unique and one of the few Rolex pieces not copied by many other brands.

Also, holy cow on the incoming Nautilus
I am working my way to a Aquanaut this year. Can't wait to see your pics.
Good luck with your decision!

Talk about coincidence..... have both the BLNR and LVC also on a waiting list for a DBlue. I'm not actually holding out much hope of getting one anytime soon which is fine as I'm would need to flip one of my current collection to part fund. If I had the call in 12 months it would suit me better. I put my name down thinking the wait would be a long one.
Out of interest how long have you been on the list at your AD?
