Does anyone make a Deployant clasp for Panerai that doesn't suck?

I hate my PAM 104 deployant clasp. It's curved so great it digs into my wrist.
I bought a Panerai brand normal non-deployant buckle and a couple straps, but now I can't wear the old straps since the deployant buckle is terrible and straps aren't cross compatible.

Should I write off the old straps and buy all new ones?

And also, where would I find replacement screws? I haven't lost any yet, but as tiny as they are I'm afraid I'll strip or lose one.

It is possible to fit the pin buckle on straps made for deployant buckles. The gap cut for the tang is a little bit wide, but once the strap is fastened, it's fine. Better than trashing them.

This one is ok. Works well on my wrist... at the price, worth a shot? Also available in brushed.

Here is a picture of a few clasps. Notice how the Panerai has the sharpest curve, followed by my Cartier. Rolex has a perfect clasp.

Look at the Panerai on my wrist. It doesn't really sit flat like my rolexes. Rolex follows the contour of my wrist perfectly. The Panerai Deployant clasp sits on the two edges of the curve against my wrist and isn't comfortable for all day wear. I'm perfectly fine with the buckle though.

Take a look at the ~ $35 after market buckles at panatime.com The buckles don't seem to have the sharp edges of the OEM version.

Does it still have the same deep curve?

They are similar...OEM on top, Panatime on the bottom.

The Panatime are ok. I have a few and some of them pop open or are sticky. I suggest you buy 2-3 of them and return any bad ones.

I too found the deployment buckle uncomfortable on my pam 24. The metal sides are quite sharp and it gets a bit annoying after a long day wear.

Does anyone know if panerai will sell OEM buckle separately ? And roughly how much will that be.

Yes they do. They cost around $300 and you can buy direct from Panerai or go to your local dealer.

This is the one I have and it really saved my Panerai. I hated wearing it all day until I got the buckle.

I could fix it for you with three small wooden blocks and my big vice.

Or have a look at some aftermarket deploys.

That original Pam clasp looks like it's for a 6" wrist.

Thanks for the advice folks. At the price I think I'll buy a nice strap that comes with a buckle !

Ah yes, the old Panerai butterfly clasp. They either fit your wrist or they don't. I am in the "dont" camp. The best thing you could do is go with the traditional Panerai pre "V" buckle. It will turn your Panerai into your most comfortable watch.

Traditional Panerai buckle looks great as well.

Grab that bad boy with your pliers or a vise and pliers (use padding like an old t-shirt) and gently bend it out. It may not work, but you're not wearing it anyway.

I have a few Panerai's and I'm in the same boat. I decided to just get rid of the deployant and get all new straps that fit on tang buckles. Having only leather hitting your wrist is super comfy. Just get a good tang buckle where the metal buckle doesn't actually touch your wrist.

I use long straps which put the deployant off the main flat part of the back of the wrist. Using Panatime, never had an issue.
