Confusion about bracelets

I'm a little confused about hollow vs solid end and center links. Could someone please clarify what it means to me?

What does the 16610 Sub have? What about the GMT-Master II C?

well both the submariner and the GMT IIc have solid end links now. The link that joins the case- is solidly attached. Previously they used to to folded around the spring bar pin. here are the only pictures i have.

The first one is a solid end link, the second picture is hollow and the 3rd picture is a comparison with the solid end link on the top

I don't believe there are hollow end links, but there is a difference between solid and normal end links as shown below. The end link on the Sub on the left is thinner than the solid one on the Daytona on the right. I believe the 16610 Sub still uses the normal end link, but the GMT IIc shares the same solid end link as the Daytona.



Vintage Rolex shared a hollow (aka folded) bracelets with Tudor. Mine broke and I didn't know it was something valuable to keep until recently , but the centre of the links were hollow because the steel was folded around, hence, it was lighter than the solid bracelets used on current Rolexes. You can see from the sides of both new bracelets are solid - i.e., there is no gap.

I have to admit that while I was getting my GMT IIc written up at the AD, I took the liberty of trying on an SS/Plat Yachty. This watch has always caught my attention and it is asthetically perfect. But when I compared the clasp from the Yachty to my new GMT IIc, it was noticably inferior. Almost too light and fragile. Now I will only consider the Yachty if they updated the clasp.

Thanks ohlins. So middle links on the Sub are hollow. What about on the GMT-IIC?

One more reason for me to want the GMTIIC then! It'll be heavier, and rattle less!
