How do you clean your Rolex?

Colleague of mine has some buildup of gunk on crystal, how would you get it off? He's tried most of the initial things already.

Honestly... Shower with it on then towel dry it. Finally you can rub it down with a soft cloth

No more, no less, than this.

I wash with hand soap and then wrist clean twice a week, I finish off with glass cleaner on the crystal. I know it sounds a bit much but i enjoy cleaning it, And it looks brand new with no dirt on it at all.

What initial things? Did he give the gunk a stern "get off my lawn"?

Water, toothbrush, soap done. Or wear it in the shower. If that doesn't do it we need more information.

Correct..
Mine has a daily shower, sometimes two showers a day. Some days, I take it off and rub it down with some shower gel. It has been getting Source, Watermelon and Jojoba recently.. Sometimes it gets shampoo. Sometimes it gets a scrub with an old toothbrush (and shower gel) too, it's always clean.. no build up of crap, ever.

Right or wrong, I won't change my habit..

I wouldn't imagine alcohol (a solvent) will do your O rings (rubber) any good at all.

I rinse it with warm water all over, then use a soft watch brush that looks like a toothbrush (that I got once from an AD). I put some liquid handwash (normally Molton Brown) on the brush and use that all over the watch. I then rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

It's amazing the crap that comes out the bracelet of a seemingly clean watch. This is how I've always done it and they come up looking beautiful and smelling like Molton Brown....always a benefit haha!

I wear my Rolexes daily, and I wash the one I've been wearing once a week.

I literally use just hot water and a toothbrush, nothing else. Doesn't need soap given that the watch will have been washed in the same way the week previous.
