GMT 16710 Pepsi to Coke (Insert Swap)

I recently purchased a freshly serviced GMT 16710 with a 'Pepsi' insert. I have come across a Coke insert (for purposes of this thread, lets just assume it is genuine and from a reliable source.)

I would like to occasionally switch out the insert from Pepsi to Coke / Coke to Pepsi. Maybe every year or two. Am I causing a significant (or any) wear/tear by performing this operation?

One more important assumption: I have performed this operation before (full bezel removal/cleaning) and am willing to live with the consequences of any goofs.

Thank you

I've had my 16750 bezel insert in and out dozens of times, no problems.
As long as you don't bend the insert beyond it's flexion point, you're fine.
Obviously, we're not talking 10,000 manipulations, right?!

Your watch your rules I suppose. As long as you're careful and know what you're doing it won't hurt anything and bezel inserts can be had out there if you have a mishap. Have fun with your watch and do what makes you happy.

Thank you for the input! Just needed to hear that I wasn't crazy to tinker with what, for me, is quite an expensive item.

Coke insert went in tonight. The operation went very smoothly (I know we're not talking brain surgery here.).

Worth noting, for anyone reading this, the most difficult part was reconnecting the bracelet. I managed to do it with two little screw drivers and no collateral damage.

I like the look of a well worn insert but, gosh, the new insert sure does look nice. Wish I had a bunch of them!

+1

As long as you have the know-how, appropriate tools, and patience to do it correctly, there is nothing to worry about. Same goes for bracelet R&R.
However, if you can't do either without leaving "evidence" (scratches) behind, it may be something to leave to your local watchmaker, especially if done so infrequently. YMMV...
