Selling my Polar Explorer for a Panerai 372

I am in the process of flipping my Polar in order to finance the purchase of a 372.

Am I mad?

The 372 has been on my radar for years and I think I'm finally st the stage where I need to scratch that itch.

Oh and I will pocket £500.

You should get what you want.

I would not sell a Polar Explorer for much of anything including Panerai.

Have you tried one on? They're pretty different pieces...

Yes, I think you're mad, but then again, I'm a little biased. And, as someone said, it is YOUR watch, get what YOU want.

I would

No offence ro the Explorer but I personally like the 372. Especially if you own other Rolex's.

why not both are great watches and you can always swap back again (or just add the exp2 again) later on...

I think you should do it......................but you'll be back.

I went full-Panerai* back in '02, which lasted until '05/'06 when I came back to Rolex.

IMO, my PAMs were great, but I couldn't keep cheering for company that treated its customers like crap. Hopefully things have changed in the past 10+ years.

But really, get what makes you happy!

*I'm eagerly awaiting for the first, "You never go full Panerai" comment. :)

Sounds like a fait accompli

And why not... the 372 is a great watch, so if this is what you want then congrats & enjoy

The Exp II will not be hard to get in the future, should you want one again

Selling my Polar Explorer for a Panerai 372

I would never sell my watches and especially if it's a Rolex. You never know what would its history bring in the future.
You want a new watch, just get it. Don't trade.

It kind of depends on what else you have in your collection. If it's a one and only watch I'd say you're mad. But if you had another Rolex, let's say a sub or GMT I would definitely do it.

I would. Panerai tend to be more rare as oppose to Rolex that are everywhere and conventional looking. If that's where you are in your style and taste in watches, I say go for it. The strap options are amazing and a sickness that constantly keeps the watch fresh. I think Panerai is a very stunning and unique looking watch. You either get what they are all about, or you don't.

I have the 42mm polar Exp II and the PAM 422 (same size as the 372), and love them both. The Exp II holds value better and is more versatile. Also, you need a bigger wrist to wear the 422/372. Have you tried on a 372 yet?

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have tried on the 372 and I think I can pull it off. I have two watches in my collection at the moment, a BLNR and Explorer ii polar (42mm).

I feel that the 372 and BLNR would make a nice combo.

It's your collection. You should do what you feel is best. On the rolex forum most people would prefer to keep the rolex but that does not mean that is the right decision for you. If you are buying the 372 used then you can swap back without too big of a loss when you decide you made the wrong decision in 6 weeks .

i swapped my 372 for an explorer (214270, basel 2016) and am very happy for the trade. the explorer is my one and only, because for now, i cannot afford more than one watch in this price category. however, the 372 is a brilliant watch with great attitude, but i realized it could work for me only as a watch #2. so, since you already have the awesome blnr, i would not hesitate to let the polar go :)

BLNR and 372 is a killer combo! I'd prefer the 372 over the exp any day.

Go for it. If the Polar is not getting wrist time, it's time to move on. Life's too short.

Enjoy!

Just make sure it's what you want...if you want to reverse that trade, it will be an expensive flip.
