Explorer II with rotatable bezel

Hey guys and gals, I was just thinking actually picked up from another forum
Time zone. So I thought I would pick up the ball and run another way.

Would the Explorer II benefit from a rotatable bezel with some sort of
"locking mechanism". (i.e. push down to unlock and rotate, unidirectional?)

Also increasing the the depth rating to maybe sub specs?

Do you see a benefit? I think it would be more versatile.

What say you?

cheers

Kevin

If you need the bezel to rotate get a GMT.

I like the fixed bezel. I'd like to see that Rolex brings back the old style 24-hour hand to further distance the EXPII from the GMT.

ok, ok, ok, I see. my thought process not fully functional. Guess I should
have THOUGHT a little more throughly. Just brainstormed.

Think than speak..damit

Alright than how 'bout a "locking mechanism" for new subs, SDDS, etc.

Hope I didn't blow that one too...

Again just thing out loud.

cheers

I don't mind the bezel being fixed, and I really like the look of the watch. But the crystal sits a good bit higher than the bezel and it is really easy to nick it.

That fixed bezel on the Exp-II makes the particular model unique in the Rolex line-up with its dual time zone functions as well.

The sloping fixed bezel gives the watch a sleeker look and makes it very comfortable to wear!!

X2. The old style orange hand gave the EXP II it's own personality.

I like the fixed SS bezel on the Explorer II.

If I could change anything about the Explorer II, I would remove the Explorer II branding from the dial face and replace it with either nothing or with a model number.

But then, I don't like names on any watch, other than the name of the manufacturer.

The prefect watch for me, then, would have "Rolex" on the dial face and nothing else.

Some of the watches do have a lot of writing on the dial. I think there was a thread a while back about which one had the most letters and numbers.

I think there's no doubt that the winner of that is the new Deep Sea.

I like the fixed bezel on the Exp II over the GMT II, and the brushed steel look makes it unique with a distinctive character,

Kevin,
I think a rotating bezel would be a great feature on the Exp. That, and if Rolex offered the new jubilee would make it even better. Having said that, the original is a timeless classic.

Shudder at the thought. Explorer 11 is perfectly specced, the bezel is fixed for functionality and 300 feet is more than anyone actually needs.(ok, I stand to be corrected if anyone even knows anyone who dives deeper than 300 feet).

Explorer II - Gimmick free watchmaking at it's best

Lesson learned: Never ever rotate the bezel that fast.
